It would be interesting to know what percentage of people with Stillen SC kits have had problems. You hear about people having problems, of course, but people generally don't post about not having problems.

I just changed the original SC belt that I've had on for over 40,000 miles. Never had a problem with it or the kit in any way.

 

I only had a problem one time. It was my fault. He may have alignment issues that he has to get fixed. Dave you can suggest he try the gator back belts. The gator backs are stronger then the gates belts.

 

I really doubt that there are many people who are running the "stock" SC system who did the installation correctly (ie no bolts left off the bracket to engine, etc) that have belt issues.

I bought mine new and did the install myself; installed a 3.12" pulley and have been lucky enough to never had a problem (aside from the belt getting a little loose once).

The only problem area I see that could be a "weakness" are the plastic/polymer pullies in the kit (which I replaced with metal ones preemptively)

 

i feel that the Stillen Kit for the maxima is stupid for using the extra wiring an possible failing bosch psi sensor and subpar intank pump with the sux pump, I would just swap to a 255lph mustang holley intank pump thats what I did and no regulator was needed and it can handle higher psi also unlike the walbro high psi pump some of you use with a regulator.?

 

I installed everything correctly, used all the bolts, and was generally a good boy. AND i have alignment problems! See how belt is wearing?

 

I had the same problem, but I had left out the allen head bolt. I don't have any problems now well I didn't with the 3.33 we'll see with the 2.62!!! wish me luck? and where do you guys get shims, or do you make them yourselves. Also do you install them on the s/c pulley or the accessory pullies?

Oh yea I also took a 4.5in grinder to my backin plate also to try and help align it better, right behing where the allen head bolt is, i ground the hell out of it, well in my terms, when I take off the blower in a few i'll take pics.

 

that happens to the gates style belts often.

 

My kit has been on for over 100k I have split a belt and had the plastic idler pulley melt on me but both my fault. No other issues. I have run my sc with 2 bolts holding the bracket on. Oh, Stillen sucks! There service is crap and so are there prices

 

have you replaced your alternator? I seen this happen on a blower and the belt was slighly touching the little bracket that the alternator bolt goes thru. I cut it with a right angle grinder and sand it down so it would not be sharp and out of the way of the blower.

Stillen definitely got it right with the V1 bracket. Too bad they had to "improve" it. I suspect some bean counters got involved.

 

but wouldnt that make them have to put more down on r&d?

I still would like to see a v1 bracket.

 

Apparently they didn't do too much R&D.
