Anyone with forged internals?
I'm looking into going boost over the summer, with an complete engine rebuild, and other plans I relize that no companies make kits for our cars, and if everything works out, I'm gonna need custom components anyways. Just asking to anyone that has got them, where? I've looked at companies like Manley, who evidently look down on ever making anything that they dont have molds for www.raceeng.com seems to have a complete section, and willing to make custom rods/pistons. Any help with this is greatly appreciated. Also, does anyone have complete build sheets on both the VQ30DE and VQ35DE? I need to know every possible thing about these two engines before I go on my quest.

You can also call SGP in Houston, They could make you some pistons/rods and also get you some ARP studs. The link is here:

Well ice, I initially wanted to go with just stroking the 3.0, getting forged 3.0 pistons, with rods made to 3.5 specs, getting a stock 3.5 crank, cyro treating and diamond edging it, then turbo. But now considering all the 3.5 pieces I can get, including cams and what not, I think I'm gonna find a 3.5 here soon, and start rebuilding it myself. I have seen tilley is able to get the 3.5 cams into the 3.0 block, but I won't have access to a lot of tools.I haven't sat down and crunched the numbers, looked at all options either. Honestly, I would *like* an e.t. of mid eleven , to 12 range. But, at what I make per/year, I could be piecing together my engine for the next 6-9months. I really need to find the builds sheets on the VQ35DE, I'm dying without some of the vital numbers. Couldn't help me with this ice could ya?

If you wanna build a strong boosted 3.0 go with the VQ30DET rods and crank cause the rod journals are almost a 1/4inch larger and its safe over 500 hp according too nissan in japan. Its the same stuff used in GT350/500 cars.

This is probably a thread you'll want to read brother...

I know it's in the all motor section, but you build a motor for N/A performance just like you build a motor for forced induction performance (except for the compression ratios for the most part)...

Now that I've looked into everything, I think tilleys idea of using the VQ30DET crank/rods and getting some pistons made may be the best bet. I had been worried about the stock crank, even with cyro treating, being up to the task at high boost settings. Heres the motor plan, VQ30DET Crank/Rods Custom JE stock size pistons, Tomei 256x10.22 intake cam, and Tomei 262x10.22 exhaust cam,(hopefully tilley will drill the new dowel pin locations for me) JWT valve springs, and I'm undecided about the heads. Most of what I've read, getting them ported and polished is not worth it, just making sure they are clean/good condition. I dont see that ARP makes head/rod/main studs, so I may be s.o.l on that. Sigh, and I still have to get my trans built for the hp with some raxles or another company. But hey, gotta pay to play I suppose. I haven't even looked at turbos, or fuel management yet. Any comments suggestions are always welcomed.
