If you are sticking to the basic kit, you don't really need much else besides fuel pressure, egt and boost gauges.
Once you start making over 10 psi, then the stock ignition timing becomes a problem because it is too far advanced for safe boosting. There are a couple of ways to pull timing, which I won't get into here. Also, above 10 psi the fuel pressure needed to deliver sufficient fuel starts to get pretty high, so at that point you should consider getting larger injectors.
