Put the car on the dyno (A few issues)

This was just to check out my a/f since Im running the car on the stock ECU until I get my JWT issues resolved so I wasn't trying to make any big numbers. All pulls were made in 3rd gear just bc of the timing being stock, didn't want to push it too far.

Here is the first problem, the Harlan window switch doesn't appear to be functioning. The LED lights up but the valve does not open on the MEVI which was easily noticed on the dyno. One other thing unless something wasn't right on the dyno the stock ECU only read to 6350rpms even though the tach hit right past 6500 on the rev limit.

The car hit 11.3 psi on the dyno at 6350 with the 3.12 pulley on the T-trim. My a/f was at low 10's sitting at around 37psi base FP with the large injectors on the stock ECU.

With the MEVI closed on the whole pull the car made 312whp and 285tq. With it zip tied open the low end suffered but it made 325whp and 285tq both with the a/f in the low 10's. Im going to lower the FP a few psi to lean it out some but I want to keep it rich while daily driving the car on stock timing.

The good news is the T-trim definately makes more torque and most boost with the same size pulley. I was only making 11.5psi at 7k on the S-trim with the 3.12 pulley vs 11.3psi at 6.3k.

Now I just need to figure out what to do about the window switch problem, and get my ECU problems sorted out. I've decided to only get the raised rev limit and speed limiter removed from JWT and do all the tuning with emanage.

Any suggestions on the window switch would be appreciated. It looks like Im going to be making some big boost only numbers once I get it tuned, the MEVI working and getting a couple more psi from the rev limit. 400whp all boost is coming soon.

Toss the Harlan for a MSD digital window switch IMHO.

Can you post the dyno?

Dont have the files plus it was a dyno dynamics dyno not dyno jet. Basically the only reason I wanted to dyno was to make sure my a/f was rich for the time being. Once all the bugs are worked out I'll dyno will the full setup and shoot for the 400 barrior. Its a long shot away but I think I can get pretty close.

BTW got a link for that window switch?

if you get a V2 rebuilt, you can upgrade it to the t-trim for free? Does it support a higher rpm over the S-trim?

Summit switch. Harlan caused me nothing but problems after the first couple months. Summit didn't have a problem in all the time I had it.

Cool, thanks for getting to the dyno. How did the AFR curve look? Did it stay pretty steady? 325hp on 11psi of SC boost if very good. Any sign of detonation in the power curve? I want to dyno soon on the stock ECU as well.

No sign of detonation but im sure I would have gotten some if I did a 4th gear pull. THe a/f curve was really steady, it was in between 10.0-10.3 except for a little bump for 100 rpms were it jumped to like 10.8. Im was pretty surprised to say the least but im still puzzled at only hitting 6300rpms. Now I just need to get a new window switch and get my ECU back which I sent to JWT yesterday. THey talking me into trying to fix it and keep the program but I think Im going to call Monday and just tell them to do the rev limit and speed limit.

Just a FYI when dynoing with the S-trim the car only made 300whp in 3rd gear but this was on a crappy 224 dynojet. Can't really compare Im just happy to see the car up 20wtq from the old S-trim and its still way untuned.

There is another thing about the Dyno Dynamics machine, they are real conservative compaired to the dynojets. In Chattanooga we have both and the Dyno Jet consistantly reads 15% higher, and that happens everywhere from what I understand. In that case on a Dyno Jet now you would hit 373.75 hp , on the factory ecu. Thought I would brighten your day a bit. 400hp on the Dyno Dynamics would put a monster number on a Dyno Jet.

The dyno at cprace spits out numbers that are calibrated to more reflect Dynojet numbers. I saw a chart of a 35 Anniversary 350Z that made 270whp with only test pipes. The stock chart I am told showed about 260whp. I wouldn't call that conservative.

The dyno dynamics machine also has a function that uses historical data on certain manufactures to arrive at a estimated flywheel horse power. I takes into account drive train losses using recored avereges of simular cars of that manufacture. For example say 10 stock maximas are straped to ten different dynos, and thay are all rated at 190 at the flywheel, and they all put down between 160 and 165, using the appropriate weather adjustments; That data is then uploaded to a data base that averages the amount of drive train loss and can consistantly estimate flywheel horse power. The number you saw was the estimated flywheel hp not actual wheel hp.
