Who's got the Turbo 4th Gen?

I am turbocharging a VG30DE. All the Z car guys are saying go with the full low compression TT swap, but I'm stubborn. Just wanted to pick his brain regarding boosting a 10:1 compression engine like he did. I recall he got well over 300HP.
If I could search I would not be asking.
Anyway, I'd love to chat with ya.

Brother, you're in the wrong forum...either check the turbocharged/supercharged advanced mods forum, or the 3rd gen forum at least. This is the 4th gen. forum, and I don't think a low compression TT engine will fit in a fwd car...actually, I know so. Tell those Z guys to ... well...

edit: just saw you're join date...so a lot of things must have gone on since you stopped visiting the org frequently. Since you left, there are actually a good number of BOTH 3rd and 4th gen. owners who sport turbocharged rides. Again, check out the 3rd gen forums, or the turbo forum where I know they are discussing the VG30E's setup.

edit again: Are you talking about a Z32 engine??? Do you have a z car you want to boost? You might know this, or you might not, but there are fairly significant differences between the VG30DE and the VQ series engine. You'd be more familiar talking to the boosted VG30E owners.

I used to have a 3rd gen 5spd. Now I have a J30. Yeah, it's auto, but it is unique for sure, love it or hate it. I love the RWD, and 2 small turbos should do me well. Sleeper style ya know? I was looking for basic info on boosting the higher comp engine. I found the thread further down posted by Shadow. I sent him an email. Most of the Z32 guys are telling me swap in a complete TT engine, but I am stubborn. Looking for a more bolt on affair, short of the custom plumbing. Thanks

I'd agree with the z32 guys. Put in a built tt motor so you can boost the hell out of it, with maybe some NAWZZZZ! Cuz...ya know, i live my life a 1/4 mile at a time and all.

If you're boosting a VG30DE, wouldn't this question better be asked to the turbo 3rd gen guys? There are quite a few of them.

As for turbo 4th gens, there are a couple of dozen of us and I'm one. But I wouldn't worry about boosting a 10:1 compression engine, most of us haven't had too many reliability issues.

he has a J30 with the VG30DE...this question would probably best be answered on the Z32 boards since this motor has nothing to do with ANY gen Maxima

The J30 and Z32 Chassis are completely different. I had this though a couple of weeks ago. Everything is really tight in the engine bay. You might have trouble with clearance.

I don't know if there are any similarities between the between the two chassis, but the Z32 chassis is incredibly tight in the engine bay too. Probably the biggest reason you don't see half the high HP Z32s out there as you do high HP JZA80s. If you want to make more than 500 or 600hp, you've got your work cut out for you when it comes to yanking the fisher price turbos on the VG30DETT nestled way down in there.

There have been VG30DETTs swapped into the J30, I know a guy in St. Louis who did it. The chassis may not be the same, but the drivetrain is (NA).

Anyways as far as turbocharging 10:1 compression goes, if you know what you're doing you will be fine. If you don't know what you're doing you will blow up your ish no matter what compression it is.
