How to get better traction 1st gear
How to get better traction 1st gear
I have a supercharged max now b/c i bought drunkenmunkys max from northern jersey. Well i drive the car and in first gear if im not on it that hard and take it to around 4k rpms then punch it tires just spin and hop. Is there anything that i can do to make 1st gear not have as much tq so that way i can transfer the power to the ground better so 2nd doesnt take too long to get power up. Besides tires is there anything else i can do?
Take the supercharger off and install a turbo. You'll get less boost in 1st gear than in 2nd gear, etc.
Seriously though, not really anything you can do besides tires. Just don't go WOT in 1st.

large stick tires, quaife atb, and if your real serious traction control. The AEM EMS has it... but it is full on custom. Now that I think about it I bet the AEM EMS will even drive MSD coils
Not a whole lot you can do. Short of driving around on slicks, a boost FWD car is always goona have 1st gear traction issues. Throttle modulation is your best friend.
I'm not FI, but some poly motor mounts and the "J-Bars" both help eliminate wheel hop, and thus can help get the power to the ground better. I noticed a huge improvement with just motor mounts NA, and I hear the J bars are just as good if not better. Clean wheel spin is sure better than wheel hop....

M/T ET street radials. Don't know if they come in Maxima specific sizes though. You need something with a thick sidewall, creating flex at launch in order to hook. Other than that, be moderate when applying the throttle.
They are traction bars. They go on the front of the car between the frame and the control arms. They are meant to stop the rearward motion of the control arms when accelerating. Jclaw is the org member who made them, hence the name. They really do help a lot. Between the ES MMs and Jbars my car is virtually wheel hop free. There have been minor fitment issues here and there like one guy having his hit the oil filter and another guy not being able to have them clear the auto tranny, but by either spacing or bending the bars you should be able to fix all of those issues.
