Haltech...

Anyone know much about this and if it can actually work on our cars.
I spoke to a shop today that said that the could put one in my car.

Is it worth it?

ECU $1700
wiring $700
tunining $500-700

It is a stand alone ecu and I would not need my E manage or J&S anymore.

Opinions are welcome

Anything can be made to work with enough time and effort. I think the install will be more involved than they are thinking, based on the difficulties nigel had getting the AEM to work. Are you really looking to spend $3000 on additional engine management when you've already got a good setup with emanage and J&S? If you were a 600hp turbo car I could possibly see the need, but for a 350ish hp SC max (I think that's what your car is) no way. It's your money though and it would be great for the community if you could get it to work.

Unclemax spent over a year and thousands of dollars trying to get the Haltech system working on his 4th gen. He ended up pulling it off because they could never get it working correctly. This was a couple years ago, so my memory could be off slightly, but I know he took it to a few different shops, and none of them had 100% success.

NOT worth it until you get past the point that an SAFC or Emanage can help you. Unless......you just want to or simply enjoy the process of learning about and installing, tuning your standalone, in that case dive right in!

haltech is one of the best engine managements for the money, a lot of high hp cars use this but it is too costly for us 300-400hp cars. to me keep what you got because the money you will spend is not worth it unless you were talking 600+ hp in my opinion.
