alot of yall seem to have Mevi's but in the all motor section the 00VI is the perferred option....which one do yall think is best for a turbo setup.

Stephen Max's dyno has shown that boost only increases the 00VI's dominance over the MEVI

Can someone define both of these? I've been here for a bit now and I still don't know what either of the terms mean or where they come from.

They are Both Intake Manifolds.

MEVI is Middle Eastern Variable Intake. Many around the board and is a Direct fit for the 95-99 Nissan Maxima. Can be purchased new through a few online sites or Used on the board.

The 00VI is off of the 2000-2001 Maxima and involves a bit more custom work to install. Can be purchased used from a Junkyard or used here on the .org.

The reason that MOST people in here still have the MEVI is because most people in here have been modding their maximas for a long, long time whereas many of the guys in the all motor section are relatively new to modding. MEVI was an option well before the 00vi was for us 4th gen guys, and thus they bought MEVIs back then, and haven't bothered to upgrade since for the most part. Also, the other reason is because for guys making 300, 400 hp, an extra 10hp or whatever isn't that big of a deal, but if you're only making 200hp, 10hp is a more siginificant gain.

I have not seen a direct turbo comparison... does not mean there is not one, I just have not seen it.

IMHO, a turbo's ability to have max boost around 3500 rpm makes the TQ loss of the MEVI not so bad.

But that is just my opinion.

And much like neal said, many of us had mevi's going on 4 years now

It's 00 (zero-zero), not "oo". And there is no such word as "alot" in the English langauge.

IMO, with a turbo application the small torque loss with an MEVI is not an issue.
