Update on my turbo 3rd gen.

Well... alot has changine in the year ive been boosted. I thought i would share two of the bigger changes. First off.. my custom intake manifold. I installed this a few months back when i fixed my bent rod that some of you may have read about. Its been great. Gobs of top end power yet it still has the low end of the stocker. Its a large plenum, short runner design that uses a lower plenum from a Quest/mercury villigar. I chose that because all of the ports are inline with each other. and the runner design is a bit higher flow than my stock lower plenum. I drew the entire intake manifold up on cad and then sent it to my cnc cutter. once cut, i port matched the main plate with the lower plenum and also cut velocity stacks into it. the rest i tig welded together including a place to mount the IACV and a 240sx throttle body.
Heres the pics.

Lower plenum.

CNC'd Lower plate with freshly cut velocity stacks

Throttle body and CNCd throttle body plate

I just like this picture

All welded up

Can never have enough Vac ports

Installed

So thats the intake manifold. So far, it has been wonderful. Driven it almost 5k miles with no problem.

On to the Compressor upgrade.....

My old compressor was just getting a bit to small... and i ran across a used 62-1 compressor and housing for 50 bucks that i couldnt pass up, and i finnally got around to puting it all together and installing it. Ill let the pictures explain the rest, because im bad at it.

housing before modification

Milling off the 4" velocity stack I wish i had room for it. but theres no point in going from 3 inch through the maf up to 4 inch then back down. and plus i could have never made the bend had i not done that.

Finished milling

Intake tube with Crank case vent and BOV recirculation tubes welded in

Intake tube ready to weld to the houseing.

Housing all welded up..

Installed on the car

Finished install

All in all.. its a great improvement.. and opens up many more power potential doors... all i need now is.. Better fuel injectors, and a bigger intercooler.. and im ready to start uping the boost and pray my tranny holds.

Great progress!!!!

I don't think I've even washed my car latley... or been on here!

As usual.. awsome job on everything...

I'm going to look into a auto trans for my car (possible GM trany) GTP GrandPrix (if dementions allow) or sell my car and get a GTP. I love my Maxima but with the 5spd I know I'll break it or not hook/tire hopp like last time. I can boost launch with a Auto and have more precise controll of shift RPM. I'd much rather have a Nissan than a GTP as a driver.
Great Job again!
Scott~

Very impressive work man!!! The intake is a nice job. looks very 'industrial', but definitely gets the job done.

Would you be interested in doing one for my VE? I simply don't have the resources to do it, but I'm really wanting to get something different going on mine for more top end.

That is a very nice VG seriously man! Now you gotta get it tuned on a dyno, and go to the track. Very interested in seeing what kinda #'s it puts down.
