Hey guys with 4th gens did you run a ground wire all the way back up front to the engine or did you ground it in the back somewhere.

In my third gen I ground it in the back but if my batt was the least bit weak it would not crank. So now im doing my 4th gen and wanted to see how you did yours. PICS would be cool if you got them.

To be safe run 2 1.0 cable grounds to the frame. One by the rear axle and one 3-4 feet forward. Just make sure to get down to bare metal.

An alternative is run a longer neg 1.0 cable to the fire wall and then use a grounding kit Also just use 1 cable near the rear axle and forget the one 3-4 feet forward.

Here is my write-up. It is in a 5th gen, but is the same. I have done a number of 4th gens in the same manner.

Those blocks are made by Psnami (I am sure it is spelled wrong) and they have 2 1 gage spots (1 at either end) and 8 8 gage spots (4 down each side)
I had to special order them. If you can't find them they were $30-35 a piece... I think. Let me know and I will see if I can get them for you.

I used the ground one to make a grounding kit... since I had up to 8 8gage wires I could run.

i read your write up and now im thinking... what i did was connect a ring terminal to one end of the positive cable (2 gauge) and simply connected that end to the terminal connection on the stock positive cable. the other end runs to the trunk and connects to the battery terminal. for the ground, i ran the cable from the negative terminal of the battery to the first screw/nut i saw connected to the body behind the panels in the trunk. the car gets power, it will crank, but does not run. do you think my half-assed install could be the culprit? or if the car has power and cranks then the problem in it starting must be elsewhere?

Problem is elsewhere if it's cranking normally.

Yes it is else where. Also check the voltage at your batt with a digital volt meter and see what the drop is when you compare it to the voltage in the engine bay. (this is done with the car off)

I have no voltage drop at all.

Most people mess up on the ground most of time.
