How to calculate how much power my turbo is capable of producing?

I was just wondering if anyone can tell me what kind of power my turbo is capable of making.

(Note: I am NOT asking how much power my car will make).

Here is my Turbo Specs:

Turbonetics T4/T04E Ball Bearing Big Shaft Super Series Turbocharger

(.81 Exhaust A/R and .63 Intake A/R)

Thanks Guys!

JP

You are missing the only piece of information which matters... what compressor wheel is in your turbo. If you know the wheel you can look up the map for it and know how much air it can flow.

Neal-

Thanks! How would one come about that information if it was not provided?

Easiest way would be to check with the manufacturer or whoever sold it to you, not sure if there is a serial number or something on the turbo you can give them. If you can't get an answer from the seller or manufacturer then you can take the compressor cover off and measure (with a caliper, needs to be a very accurate measurement) the diameter of the inducer and exducer of the wheel. Then you can either look on a compressor list to see if you find one that matches your measurements (there are a number of them on the internet that I know of that give the measurements of the inducers and exducers of lots and lots of different wheels). If you can't find those measurements on any of the compressor size lists then it's a simple calculation to figure out the wheel trim... once you've got the wheel trim figured out you can probably just look up on google the wheel trim you've got (for instance, t04e 57 trim or whatever) and find a compressor map for it. Failing that, you can use the trim you calculated and get ahold of the manufacturer and say "what's the maximum airflow supported by your _____ trim wheel."

Actually now that I've typed all this extra stuff, there might be a part number on there that actually describes the turbo (might be a big jumble of numbers but it actually might say what trim wheel it is somewhere in the part number).

What brand turbo is it and where did you purchase it?
