No more PFI kit?

I went on turbo-kits.com and noticed they no longer have the PFI kit. All they have listed is the TSI kit. I checked pfispeed.com and since their new site went up I can't find any of their products. Did they stop making the PFI kit?

Let us know what you find out.......I'm too lazy to do it myself. It would be a shame if they did.

I emailed pfi and they said:

The maxima turbo kit is available and you order it directly from us. I
need
to know what year and if its automatic or manual. Let us know if we
can
help you out.

I emailed them after not seeing it on turbokits.com. PFI emailed me a week ago telling me this. I am going to be ordering it soon.

I contacted turbo-kits.com today. The guy told me that from what he knows, the kit is still in production. They just stopped selling the PFI kit because they have horrible customer service. He said he has customers that have been waiting over 3 months for this kit and still have not gotten them. So that's why they stopped selling them on turbo-kits.com.

Their kit is only for a 5spd. They told me that they could install it on an auto but it had to be done at their HQ in Colorado. The stock Auto cant handle the power for long, but I think the problem is with piping clearences.

No I didn't ask him about that one. I haven't heard of anyone that has that kit so I personally wouldn't go with it unless I hear reviews on it. The PFI seems to be popular and has gotten good reviews so if I do get a kit, it will be the PFI.

It looks like with the interest in the PFI turbo kit that turbokits.com jacked up the price. It used to be around $4500 and now it is $6500 wow, I hope it is a mistake. I have emailed PFI as I would rather order directly from them. However if the kit is now $6500 there is no way I would pay that, it would cost more then my car is worth. That TSI kit with the t25 can be upgraded to a t28 for only $100. The Tsi kit looks like it sucks but it half of $6500.

One of you guys brought my attention to this thread. I still sell the kits at $4100 same as it has always been (I do not include a BOV) is the only difference between my offering and turbo-kits.com. I don't push it much cos I don't make much money from doing this. I still sell parts to PFI to produce this kits. I haven't sold one for a long time so would have to re-check on pricing. With cost of raw materials shooting up, I would not be surprised if the pricing went up slightly but not by $2000! If you are genuinely interested email me but don't waste my time. I will not entertain price shoppers/tire kickers. Also you need to be a maxima.org donator to get this price. Believe me, it is worth the donation! My email is turbo97se@comcast.net

Hey, you were talking about the t25 kits. On importperformanceparts.net they have a kit from turbo specialties for $2999. At that price you can upgrade to a t28 ball bearing turbo. I don't know how the kit is or what it fits because they never seem to email me back. The issue with the PFI kit and an automatic is the clearance for the intercooler piping. I had a friend who ordered a kit from PFI and after 4 months it still hadnt showed up so he cancelled the order. I am still looking for a good turbo for my max because I can't afford the PFI.

I have some more information on another turbo kit. You guys will need to contact James Williams at Creatiive Customz. I would email him at creativecustomz1@yahoo.com. I have been in touch with him and he told me that he has a kit for the Nissan Maxima that would cost $4900 and is a direct bolt on. I am not sure what years it would fit, but I have a 2000 Maxima GLE and he told me that it would fit my car. I hope this helps you guys out.

So everything that is listed on the PFI website is what you sell for 4100, plus shipping I imagine... What if you wanted to buy just peices of the kit can you just sell piping etc?

Okay I just found this thread started by you a while back...

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=341689

There are a few parts I have already and a few others I would be interested in getting a price quote on. This is something I am doing and not just thinking about etc. I am in the process of building a 3.5 to put in my 4th gen and am still deciding on what turbo kit I want. Forward y or the PFI... if you could email me or just reply to the post that would be great thanks! (glenmoormax@gmail.com)

They should be able to sell you some pieces seperate. If you are going all out to build to the engine I would just do the forward y. You should be able to buy the intercooler w/ piping from pfi if it will go with your setup routing wise. Good luck.

Yes, you are correct, I am actually still fighting with PFI over an intercooler that hasn't been shipped but has been ready since July!

We did stop selling their kits and initially removed them from the site. Some of our current customers that are still waiting for their kits were asking questions. So we posted it back online as a record of what our current customers ordered and jacked up the price so no one would buy it.

You can still go direct and buy the kits from PFI, but buyer beware... Don't be surprised if you never get what you pay for...

On another note, if there are any quality kits out there for the Maxima (any years) please let us know, we did get a lot of response for the PFI and TSI kits and would like something to take their place.

Thanks for listening

Jesse

uhhh huh! motor is almost out now...

Good to know, I think about the forward y and being that my good friend (jcy98maxse) has it I can mock it up fairly easily, but he isn't pulling his motor out and needs his car. Thats why I was interested in the PFI piping mainly. It still (IMO) is just as responsive as the forward Y, I mean, JAY25 and mardi's cars etc run it and they definatly don't run into problems with it. Nigel runs that kit with the same turbo as Justin does with his forward Y and IIRC there spool times aren't much different, correct me if I am wrong Justin...

Hey guys, I have been in contact with a guy who sells STS turbo systems. If you don't know anything about these systems they are fairly new, but are well built kits. They are called remote mount turbo kits because the turbo mounts in the back of the car where the muffler would be on the exhaust. This keeps the temperature down and takes away the hassle of making room for the turbo in the engine compartment. You should check out there website...www.ststurbo.com. Well, he told me that he built a turbo kit recently for a Maxima and that he can ship me a kit for 4900 dollars. The kit comes with a PT60-1 turbo with a T3 or T4 flange. You can upgrade to a GT35R with a T3 flange and a .84 a/r. for $250. You can upgrade to a GT40R or a GT45R as well, but I don't have pricing. A wastegate comes with the kit, but the Tial bloww off valve is a $300 upgrade. Also, there is no intercooler with the kit. I know the kit is a little pricey, but I just wanted to pass on this information to you guys. Im still trying to get more of the details worked out with him.

I call BS on this one ... PFI don't have a kit for the IS300. I know because I have an IS300 and I am at PFI at least twice a week.

LOL @ STS. they are made right by me. They are constantly trying to take away TRD blower d\kits for tacomas, but fact is, there kits really are poor results. The only positice one I have seen is the C5 vette that I have seen in person. Even then, the lag is on for DAYS. same with all the gabillion tacomas runnin that kit. not to mention that my friends and brothers TRD blowers @ less psi, and heat soaked still have better dyno's and timeslips at our local drag. I hate STS.

$5500 for 20% is some pretty bad hp per dollar. He should have gone with the pfi kit or even tried that kit on turbokits.com that comes with a t25.
