M112 on a 3.0L

Is a 03-04 Cobra M112 too big to go on a VQ30? It has a lot of improvements over the older M90's. What would be wrong about running one at 6-7 psi non-intercooled? It'd have a lot of potential.

How do you plan on running it in conjunction with our intake manifold (replacing it)? I know I've see a pictures/thread a long time ago with a M90 on a max. There wasn't any numbers on how it performed tho...

Granted is the about the M90 but the concepts/complications are the same.

Come on JClaw, what's your deal?

Your old thread we discussed it over and over. Go it Craig Mack style with an M112 and show us all how it's done

No numbers, but Craig Mack has told me (as recently as a couple days ago when I was discussing it with him...oh the ironing) that it flew like a bat out of hell.

I'm asking if the M112 is too large for an engine displacing only 3 liters. I've only seen it on V8's.

It's a little different now. Now my bro owns the car and it's either that or a 3.5 swap.

I'm going to say it is too large. I'll also say your bro needs to be different from you and do something other than the 3.5 swap

It's much more efficient than the M90, and you said yourself that the M90's snout wasn't long enough. What kind of downside would it being too large bring? I'm really thinking about potential here.

The M112's snout wouldn't be long enough, either, I'm guessing. Depends where you're mounting it (remote or on top of the engine). If you mounted it on top, you'd actually have to cut length off, I'd assume.

I couldn't tell you exactly what having too big of a blower would do

By my logic it should only provide more power at a lower psi and a whole lot of room for improvement since these things can run a lot of boost.

I don't really know the answer to your question, but here's a flow map that might help.

Probably would need to calculate the flow rate of the engine in CFM (I can probably do that on turbocalc without trouble but it's on my other computer) and then compare it to the flow map. Of course then you'd have to discover if surging on an eaton is damaging to the blow and/or detrimental to power production or driveability. If it is, then you need to take into account the fact that you could probably adjust for problems by playing with the blower RPM (via pulley size) and the effective CFM by installing a venting BOV of some sort.

I think it could probably work, but it might take a crapload of f#%$ing around and trial and error. Or it might just work great right off the bat.

Yeah. I'd be more confident with a VQ35 since the heads flow that much better but for now it is VQ30 only.

Also, I've read that the M90 tops out at 520 cfm vs the 700 cfm of the M112 same RPM (12,000 rpm "limit") on your chart.
