Finally got on the track with the turbo setup. I only got one run in because i got there at 8:30pm and it was packed.

I did a small burnout on the DRs so I didnt heat them up too much, I had bad wheel hop on launch, spun 2nd and 3rd so I short shifted 2nd and lifted in 3rd. Dont know what was up with the wheel spin, because I never spin 3rd on the street on street tires.

I was surprised to run a 13.00 @ 113.04 with it being my first run on boost and the traction problems. Sucks that there was time only for one run, 12s should be easy next time I get to the track.

 

For your first run, that is very impressive. Next time you go to the track take a buddy with a camera.

 

That is a heck of a time to pull off on the first run. You really got to heat up DR's to get them to stick. You got mid/high 12's easy. Traps look good and will only go up as you keep traction. Congrats!

I know I was getting a 13.27 on 18" street tires and a 2.4 60' on 8psi so I'm sure you will be in the 12's in no time. Just make sure to heat up the tires really good. You can't hurt them by making sure they're hot.

 

I was expecting somewhere around a mid 13 for the first run so I was surprised after I got my slip. Cant wait to go again, Ill have the J-bars on and ill do a good burnout.

 

excellent first timer, geesh i ran a 14.6 the first time,lol. you definitley got a high 12 second car according to your trap, good work.

 

Pretty good result bro, I think my first run in my turbo car was like 13.5 @ 114 (all season tires of course).

Ill be going to the track this friday so hopefully I get a few runs in. Any suggestions on tire pressure for the drag radials? I plan to launch around
3.5k and do a quick slip...any thoughts on this?

 

The RWD guys pull high 1.5's to mid 1.6's 60 ft on the 255/50/16 BFG size. They hook. I'd expect a FWD maxima to pull 1.8's on them if the track hooks. 1.9's if it doesn't hook. I don't think you'll see a 1.7 on DR's, it would be a first.

Adjust the bars to pull towards the front the most you can. And run 14 psi in the tires. It will hook. Some have gone as low as 12.5, but 14-16 psi sounds just right.

As for launch RPM, you have a bunch of torque. You will have to launch low. The power has to be applied gradually, you do not want to shock drag radials. Only bias ply slicks can truly handle a straight, high RPM dump. A 3500 slip sounds fine. Good call. If it doesn't hook go lower.

 

When you say adjust the bars to pull towards the front, do you mean have a pulling tension against the bracket and control arm or a pushing tension against the bracket and control arm.

Ill go lower on the tire pressure. On this run, they were at 23psi and were probably still cold since the burnout was only for a few seconds. Thanks for all the tips. Cant wait till Friday

 

Shortening the distance between the tow hook bracket and the control arm, i.e preventing them from throwing back on launch.

I'm looking into making a quick-release "solid axle" for maximas. To prevent weight transfer.
Drag civics have solid front suspensions because of this.

 

i run 16 psi with no problems, i could probably go lower but this seems to work for me.

 

update! that is a awesome time for the first run. I cant wait to be boosted and go down the track. Reading these kind of threads makes my day!

 

It was raining Friday so I couldnt go. I really wanted to go for test and tune today but I need to study for school, not going to have time until friday
