Changing alternator on s/c max

my alternator is going and im going to change it for a high output one bc of my system and was trying to figure out how much more of a project this is going to be w/ my s/c on there? and i saw somewhere that you have to take out the fan shroud and the radiator, do you really have to do taht?!?!? im just hoping that i dont have to take off the s/c plate to do this!!!!

I've never removed the alternator yet, so take what I say with a grain of salt. From my observations, I would think that the alternator can be removed w/o removing the SC plate, fan shroud and radiator. However, removing the fan shroud should be easy, and might make your job that much easier. I would start there, then remove stuff as necessary. When you're done, let us know what you had to remove.

thanks, ill post up when im done, not to sure when im going to get around to it, im jsut having problem after problem with my car right now and kind of short on cash from fixing everything!!!!

Ive taken off the alternator without messing with the S/C and plate. to make it easier on you...take off the radiator fan and/ or radiator...so much easier. Its just a long bolt with a square nut through, above the a/c compressor. pretty much 2 bolts that holds the compressor. long bolt that you have to go underneath the car to take off and that bolt that connects with the S/C...its long and tedious but doable. its just small area to work with good luck
