Can not get eu to connect to pc

Ok i got the ignition chip put back in today thinking that was why it would not connect online. Well the manual says to cut key off and connect the usb to the pc and eu. Well when i do the pc make a noise saying I enserted the usb but the eu just says offline. If I go to the communication menu is just not highlighted where I can select anything.

Ok After a 20ft usb cable and getting the car as close to the house as possible I got the dam thing to connect go online with my home pc (desk top). I updated the main unit and got my vehicle settings om the eu. Tryed to crank it but my coils must be shot.wonder why my lab top doesnt work with the greddy. Everything eles that I plug into the usb works fine. I bought this lab top just for this too. I installed the driver on my lab top and all but it will not talk to the eu. any ideals ANYone? But good news is I left the ignition on for about 20 minutes and the coils were not even warm at all. So I got to get new coils and try to get this animal to run!
