Walbro 255 question

I figured you guys would be able to answer this; I installed a Walbro 255 in my 240 and I use a 1995 maxima wiring harness, ECU and stock FPR on a 3.5 with 3.0 timing equipment. Basically a 3.5 swapped 4th gen with a Walbro 255 and the 3.5 injectors (270cc (3.0 bar) or 315cc at 3.5 bar).

My question is do I absolutely need to get an aftermarket FPR with such a setup? I REALLY do not want to blow anything up but I need to run the car for maybe 2-3 weeks on the stock FPR. Do you think this is dangerous for the motor? Should I absolutely get an aftermarket adjustable FPR right off the bat?

Or does it not change anything as far as fuel pressure goes for a stock 4th gen fuel pump VS the Walbro 255? I really dont want to *** this up with such a stupid mistake.

And while were at it can you advise me on a GOOD adjustable FPR I can get off Ebay? I dont want to replace the stock FPR with an aftermarket one only to have it blow up in my face. Im going to order an FPR+E-manage Ultimate real soon, and go Returnless.

I don't think you're gonna blow anything, with the 255lph and stock FP you may run on the rich side. I don't know how much more FP you will see but with the 255lph and stock 3.5 injectors I don't see you running lean at all, you FP should def be higher than 4th gen stock FP even higher than 3.5 stock FP. IMO.

Is it a must you get a APFR off ebay? Honestly, a good working AFPR cost at $100+ minimun, I've heard numerous horror stories and personally seeing a cheaper $20 AFPR from fleabay fail to not trust them at all. Good Luck!

Yea I got a $55 Greddy knock off from ebay and it rusted out from the inside out.... and I have no salt on my roads and my car doesnt have any rust. This ONE device just started rusting and seized at 75psi constant.

I got a Fuelab AFPR for $139 shipped through Justin , aka "ImportCarPartsP" on the GD forums. Let me tell you its $ well spent, that thing is a true work of art. You smack it and it sounds like a tuning fork, lol. http://fuelab.com/prod.php?pk=2# thats the one I got, PN 51502.

Again, its expensive, but its $ well spent. Justin will uphold the warranty on this product also in case you do happen to have any trouble with it.

I'm not an expert - but when I put the lo-pressure Walbro 255lph pump in my '99, I needed the Aeromotive FPR to keep the fuel pressure down to 45psi, through a 300ZXTT fuel filter. THe stock FPR was (and still is) installed on the engine, but the fuel pressure was much too high otherwise. Just my experience.

Jime had a link about where to get 'em cheap. I can't find it here at work.

An adapter can be bought to replace stock FPR or some people just weld something in place of it. Option #1 are more common.

I bought a Stillen rising rate FPR about 6-7 years ago and installed the guage on it that was "suggested" not to be run constantly as "may leak." Well, about 7 years later my stock FPR has failed and this Stillen keeps on ticking, no sign of rust or leakage. Actually, aside from some scratches it almost looks brand new. Plastic cover over guage hasn't turned yellow either. I know my stock FPR failed becuase one day during some playing with adjustments I lowered pressure and it kept dropping below stock (which it SHOULD NOT do). Quickly raised back up!

Either way, another voice to NOT going cheap on FPR.

Okay I will ask Jime where I can get one without the downtime (he is from Canada too). I will go with the one he advises me, he knows his stuff.

On the good news side, I may have a deal on a used E-manage Ultimate with all harnesses from a Z guy on my350z.com. 450$ shipped E-U+3 main harnesses. So I will be able to adjust the Air-Fuel right away. So no point in a hackyened temporary setup.
