Home made Oil Cooler !!!!!!!!!!!

Ok so I just made my own oil cooler (same as stillen only coast allot les). And Wen I install it I put fittings on a cooler fasing down. Is that bad or not. I tryed to call Stillen but they won't help since I did not buy it from them. Also then I start my car, oil light stays on for 1 or 2 seconds, any of you have same problem? O and if any one need any info on parts to make one let me know.
Thanks

Apparently it's not the same as Stillen's. And what's up with the horrible grammar???

Fittings should be on the side for best results.

No.

Why would we want to build the same kit as you when you're having problems?

Wtf is your problem? I just have couple questions. O and sweetheart: it's setup same as Stillen, you can only put fittings UP or DOWN, or it won't fit. I'll get some pics tomorrow.

I just went to Napa, got oil cooler ( don't have a part # with me) and hose. Then got all fittings from local hardware store. Oil filter adapter from online store (I'll get part # and link tomorrow as well)

Pics would be nice. Let us know if it leaks and what kind of oil you are using.

No leaks. I use castrol synthetic blend, and Nissan oil filter (it's better and smaller than frame filter).

Synthetic blend is a marketing scheme, do you really know how much more "synthetic" a blend is over normal castrol? -exactly, dont bother, normal oil or full synthetic, or make your own blend.

BTW, its not "frame", its Fram.

To help aliviate that dry start you seem to be having,

#1- add a bit more oil. you just added more to the oil capacity, so you have to have more oil to compensate. That oil pump pick up needs to be submerged, not picking up oil/air.

#2- You can mount a check valve on the hose just before the inlet to the cooler. This will prevent it from flowing back into the motor.

Next time hold your temptation and put pictures when you're going to introduce something. Aside from that, good job!

Does this cooler have an internal thermostat? If not, there are two concerns I have:

1. The oil taking much longer to reach operating temperature than before.
2. Overcooling at high speeds.

Once again, grammar, spelling, sentence structure > you.

http://www.350z-tech.com/zwiki/Custom_Oil_Cooler

This is a pretty good write up on a custom oil cooler for a Z. Notice the filter sandwich plate with a thermostat. I probably would have gone with SS braided lines though. I see he mounted the cooler with it draining down, but I don't know if the sandwich plate has a check valve.

Sorry I was really busy, so I haven’t taken any pics. Ok Oil Sandwich Adapter from www.glowshift.com. for $40. It has 2 1/8 NPT Ports so you can install an oil pressure sensor, or a temp. sensor as well. As far as Oil Cooler stile it is up to you, they all around $100 or so. So at the end it cost me less than $200. I will get some pics soon and write-up for install.

on my turbo setup I went with a rear mount oil cooler. i bought a cooler and ran oil lines to the rear of the car ( roughly 12' per line return and out line). I used a sandwich plate with oil barbs for out and return lines. No loss in Oil pressure either. same thing in the 350z write up but with more oil line lolz

Why exactly would you put an oil cooler in the back of the car?
