Bosch BOV

Hey guys,

Just wondering what the Bosch BOV in the original Stillen V2 kits were set for (What psi)?

In an attempt to get the 5th Gen piping for my max, I have to part with my Blitz DD BOV. I'll be defaulting back to the original Bosch BOV.

Just wondering what psi this will blow at?

Thanks.

....Search is my friend.....

Bosch should be good to 13psi, correct?

Finding threads linked inside of threads is awesome....makes up for a crappy initial search.

You guys can correct me if I'm wrong ok...........

I'll be trading my 4th gen piping + My Blitz BOV for 5th Gen piping because it's impossible to find.

Any thoughts?

Do you need 5th gen piping?

Well I don't need it, but I have a 5th Gen and it makes my install less complicated......

If I keep the 4th Gen piping, I have to do a custom CAI with my MAF & temp sensor on it to get them away from the blower & charged side. Then I have to connect the charge pipe to the TB by either fabricating an elbow or connecting the 4th Gen pipe to the original Elbow with a pipe where the MAF used to be, then plug the holes in the elbow, etc.

The guy I'm trading with is planning a custom setup and could use the 4thGen piping as he would have to chop-up the 5thgen piping to go ahead with his setup.

I was just looking for some opinions on the trade I guess......that comment was more of an afterthought while I was searching more than anything else.

I'm still using the Bosch. I think I am at 11/12 PSI.

Good luck.

I believe so. I either read this in Vortech's catalog or on superchargersonline.com....can't remember for sure.

Vortech updated their website finally......and they state the Bosch BOV is rated up to 12 psi.

BTW, there's a new BOV in town.

What are your thoughts on this:
"This valve is designed for use in speed density configured applications only (non-mass air equipped)."

Is this only a problem if you don't route the BOV air back into the intake tract, as is the case with all BOV's? (Therefore this would be a generic BOV statement)

Congrats on the Maxi of the month BTW......

Where did you read this??? I don't see it anywhere on Vortech's website.

FWIW, Ptatohed has been running the Bosch BOV for quit a while now (at 12psi too) and it's venting to the atmosphere. No problems whatsoever.

Thank you.

I read it from your link above:
http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com/...p=23&cat_key=4

It's right in the description

IIRC, ptatoehed has a 4th Gen, so his BOV would be located well before the MAF. This means that his BOV can vent to atmosphere fine, as the MAF hasn't metered that air yet.

I have a 5th Gen,and my MAF is located on the intake piping. Therefore the incoming air is measured before the BOV. If I vent my BOV ait to atmosphere, the ecu detects a huge leak in the system, and cuts the fuel to accommodate (IIRC). Boost + no fuel =

If I route the air back into the system, then this problem is resolved.

Sorry for the double reply, I'm in the process of moving and was disconnected from the internet for a few hours. When I re-connected I re-loaded the page and I guess it posted again......

Oh, I see now. I thought you were still talking about the baby Bosch BOV, not the new monster BOV I linked.

Yeah, everything you stated about the 5th gen MAF is correct and has been well documented here on the org.
