Be careful throwing the word bulletproof around so often, there is no such thing... I haven't been afraid to shift mine hard, but I definitely do not use the word bulletproof.

Its just a saying bulletproof, it doesn't mean take out a gun and shoot my transmission, it means a very strong billet made extremely thick and large tooth profile, made with very good materials and not that plastic metal that's in the stock 5spd that just shaves right off!!! To me with my set up and my whp(330whp-360maxwhp) it is bulletproof and should out last the car!!

And if your running a 6speed its not that strong although if driven properly should out last the 5spd for sure but still doesn't mean its in great shape with high power loads! not like an after market set that is built for power!!

And if your running a five speed trust me, anything over 270whp and your asking for problems!! Bent teeth, to blown gears, easy!! Even at stock power+30 ~205whp I've had 5spd problems and don't think you can run high power on those stock gears forever, I did many passes on the 1/8 and 1/4 with stock 5spd and many races with many kms before the dam 5spd just decided to explode! It will run with lots of power but it only takes so much shock and load for so long before it chooses to go!!

I am running a VLSD 5spd with PPG straight cut 3rd and 4th gears, and the rest of the gears and input shaft peened, cryo-treated, and isotropically finished. I know all about the weaknesses of the 5spd.

But like I said, there is no such thing as a trans that won't break. My buddy's face-plated TKO600 had gears easily 3 times larger than mine, and he broke it twice with half the rated power. It is supposed to be one of the strongest transmissions period.

So got the gear set in the mail today, its perfect, just perfect, exactly like the photo with needle rollers for 3rd, 4th, and the stock 5th as well! Its only a matter of time now before its installed and ready to be sold to everyone who has contacted me through PM and all those future maxima owners as well!

2nd gear has such a nice tooth profile, they are just so massive, I love it!

Can't wait to see how my car drives!

With the new clutch and flywheel I'm going to have to break them in before I can get myself down to the track and see what my car does on the 1/4 and 1/8 as well as the dyno I plan to do soon enough to see if there are any whp changes with the same boost levels and similar tuning to the graph and after tuning and boosting a bit more I'm curious to see what I can get out of it!

I'll try to see if I can get some free time to take more photos of the assembly and some audio or video clips of the car to show the noise increase on the gears if any, due to the helical cut gears there should be a huge reduction in noise compared to the wine that comes from straight cut gears!!

Since the introduction of needle rollers to this 5spd it should make the shaft last forever rather than get worn down by the metal on metal ride were used to! I'll keep checking my PMs and replying and will try to see If I can get a STICKY made for this set for all future maxima needs!!

Just ordered new input shaft front bearing from Nissan they gave me the wrong one for 30$ Its way to small, probably for the 6spd, I gave them **** and they re-ordered the right one now and its 55$ but I gave them hell and they took 20% off making it 45$
I hate how much these stealerships try to rip us off on these little parts that probably cost the head office 5$!

Pictures of the shaft and gears from PAR

If you notice the teeth are backwards in the middle photo its cause when I photo shopped them together I flipped that photo rev the teeth, sorry!

3rd PAR gear, 4th PAR gear, and 5th stock gear are all ridding on needle roller bearings now instead of the stock metal on metal design!

my garage is booked solid so I am waiting till they are free to assemble the output shaft, change my tires, change my engine oil and filter, change my air filter cause it has a small hole in it and has been used up and I want a real K&N on it now, not one of those 25$ pick up anywhere cones that I've been using, install the transmission to the new clutch and flywheel that have been assembled previously, than my f.a.s.t.(fuel.air.spark.tech) wide band reader and recorder of up to 50 min+ with rpm sensor to give me a full street graph of my a/f and rpm to tune my car perfectly!

I just need to come to some sort of boost level decision, I'm thinking maybe 10psi-11psi or more, hope to tune perfectly then dyno to the wheels in the 350-360whp+ area! maybe more maybe less but I'm assuming around there cause I was @ 335whp with ~9psi before and it wasn't so perfectly tuned!

I'm assuming I'll have it all done by Tuesday, Wednesday latest I hope if there are no complications! But there shouldn't be!

I'm also using Neo gear oil and very excited to try it out, especially considering all the hype surrounding it!

If all goes well and somehow can get alot of kms on it before friday and get it tuned properly I'll be hitting up napierville raceway 1/4 mile and hope to beat my best time before all this which was 13.07 @ 112mph but more consistently at 13.3-13.5 @ 109-111mph!

I hope if all goes well and my car is ready track is not to cold and I'm able to run it out well I should do high 12's

Input and Output shafts fully assembled 1st,2nd,3rd,4th are PAR 5th is stock

As is easily seen the PAR gears are so beautiful and the tooth profile is very aggressive!

I love it and cant wait to boost hard with it! need to find time to get it done, should be ready any day now I'm assuming Monday latest all it needs is a couple of hours, but my guys are booked solid!

so today ended up being the day my guys finally have a few hour block reserved especially for me!
They just finished an engine build on one car, and turbo back on another car, and a turbonetics kit on a sentra se-r, and many other small jobs, now finally time to do my list of stuff today;
rebuild and fit my transmission, change engine oil and filter, change air filter to k&n cause my other one is trashed, change tires to summer ones, install my F.A.S.T wide band and RPM reader/recorder, and probably lube up my waste gate and blow-off-valve due to the fact that is been sitting in the garage for over two months and the last it was used was winter(so its better to be safe than sorry!), the cluch and flywheel are already in and they told me they are done most of the small stuff and moving on to the trans soon!

Can't wait to get it tonight, hope it fits perfectly and works great like it should(especially since the shafts are already assembled and work, hope that the cars ready tonight so I can get on the road and waste a lot of gas on like 300miles+ of clutch mating to the flywheel of stop and go around the island, like ACT recommended!

going to make a thread for this PAR engineering 1st-4th set with input shaft and needle rollers for 3rd-5th and get it made into a sticky for every future maxima enthusiast who would just love to get there hands on it, and enjoy there VQ power!

So got the car back today;
Clutch is extremely heavy and hard to push but other than that seem pretty good but still working it in!
Flywheel is lighter but only really noticeable in low gears and when clutch in to release it lets the revs drop fast, seems really good and excited to get some kms in!
PAR gear set;
so far its great, seems much stronger but I haven't really pushed it yet, the gears wine very lightly it sounds amazing, its just like a really light hum, but mostly in first and second gear its heard under slow acceleration.
Reverse is a little weird sounding and a bit choppy but works,
Overall it seems really good and I can't wait to take the car to the track!

WOW
Love my set!
Today I did a lot of driving and got used to the clutch and flywheel, gears are great worked in and now its amazing driving in it! Feels so good and they have like a beautiful hum that only noticeable in 2nd in the cabin really but on the outside I'm told they sound great! Having a blast being able to shift and drive without any worry about pressing the pedal down.LOL

I agree. In a powerful car that has been known to break transmissions - there is something to be said for having a trans that will (probably) not break. Regardless of the cost, it adds to my enjoyment to not be scared that every shift will break my car.
