Pics of I-MFD wideband and SM-FluidTemp installed in gauge cluster

Excuse the dust. I haven't cleaned the inside of this car since it started sitting in Nov, 2006. except for a few hundred miles of test driving after finishing up the 3.5 install last fall it hasn't even been driven.

I'm speechless. Very nice Neal, and super uber clean install. What about the circuit board stuff? Doesn't it extend over in that direction? Any modification to it?

I had no idea of gauge would go there w/o major ramifications. Kudos to thinking outside of the box.

wow! thats a great idea!
I was thinking of getting that PLX gauge and running A/F and boost gauges on it, but i wanted to actually stick it in the same spot but outside the clear plastic.

what kind of A/F controller do you have? the PLX SM-AFR ?
I heard that the SM-AFR is not accurate, do you know if i can use other manufacturers controllers on the plx gauge?

All that was required was to cut that tiny notch visible in the side view where the wire runs through and to very slightly enlarge the diameter of the gauge hole, on the order of half a millimeter. It's so close to fitting in there without modification.

The factory gauges are about 1.25-1.5 inches deep - the circuit board sits that far back from the black plastic surface on which the gauges are mounted (the circuit board mounts on the back of the white plastic part of the "sandwich", probably more than 1.5" away from the black surface on which the gauges are mounted - no need to modify it in any way) Once you remove the factory gauge there is tons of room (depth) to mount a gauge in it's place, The PLX gauge only takes up about 3/8 inch of depth.

No, you cannot use any other wideband controller with the PLX I-MFD, only the SM-AFR will work with it.

I've been using PLX widebands for 3 years now and I haven't had a problem with them.

yes i did - the car has a perpetual CEL since it's got zero emissions equipment, O2 sensors, used to be an auto, etc, so I figured I'd get rid of it.

sorta. it's just a basic 3.5 swap right now. the turbo setup has been sold, and I won't be doing my new setup til late summer at the earliest. I have some road course lapping days I want to do with it this year, and I don't have the time/money right now to do a crazy new turbo setup and work out all it's bugs plus just working out the bugs of the rest of the car such that it can be run on a road course. so I'll be sticking with a basic 3.5 swap for the time being. I actually just got back in from doing some tuning on the car though, and if everything continues to look good (knock on wood) I want to hit the track this saturday.

Very nice. Do what you enjoy, I say. I'd like to do some road course racing this summer myself, so I can't blame you one bit. Drag racing can get boring

if you are fast drag racing is fun, if you are slow then people get tired of it.

No, drag racing is fun if going fast in a straight line is your idea of fun. I've driven "fast" (by fast I don't mean 9 second, I mean quick street cars in the 11 second and 12 second range) down the 1/4 mile and it's fun, but I'd rather be on a road course. I enjoy bracket racing sometimes and the occasional "just because" trip to the drag strip, but it's not my idea of fun all the time.
