VQ35HR potential

Local tuning shop keeps pushing the envelope on their 350Z. Looks like they're breaking the tires loose not only in 3rd but 4th gear too!

According to sound performance its an 04 Z. So unless they swapped an hr motor into it its not an HR.

It's not exactly groundbreaking anyway, there's quite a few built/TT 350s making similar/more power, and a couple in the 8's 1/4 mile.

Still nice to see the VQs keeping up with the competition.

If your going by the smoke then I don't think it's tires. If you watch closely the smoke comes as the back end of the car lifts up, thus is it when the power is taken off the wheels. Thus it is not the tires.

It is extremely groundbreaking. Its a 6spd car. Any other 350z you are comparing this one to is an automatic. The one in the 8's is a race car with a powerglide transmission. This 6spd car has a stock transmission, stock suspension, and a stock rear end with upgraded axles. The race weight is 3450 lbs. I think this is a massive achievement. Not too long ago there wasn't even a 6spd car in the 10's.

There are only 3 Z/Gs that have made over 1000 RWHP with us being the highest. The Injected race car has run an 8.9 in the 1/4 but it is much lighter and has a powerglide in it.

As far as a stock tranny goes, there's us at 9.35 and the NEXT closest Z/G is 10.7..... so quite a distance apart. Id say that this fact makes it quite groundbreaking!!

Hey Larry, i remember you from Supraforums!

Anyways thats an awesome acheivement. Have you had any issues with the tranny at all? I see them all the time at my work for Input shaft bearings that are going, perhaps poor drivers.

Anyways congrats! Especially on the stock 6spd tranny!! I remember all the controversy with Ryan Woons 98 QS with people not believing he had the stock internals running 8's!
