**The wait is over! Official thread for 95-99 3” Cattman Catbacks**

Fellow enthusiasts,

After much discussion with Brian Catts of Cattman Performance, Brian has agreed to make a limited run of 3" catbacks for our 95-99 Maximas. In fact, I've offered to help Brian prototype the 3" catback using one of my Maximas.

Brian gets requests for a Cattman 3" catback for the 95-99 Maxima from time to time, but when they trickle in randomly, its difficult to know what the overall demand for the part is. Hence the need for this thread! I know we've "talked" about it before, but let's make it actually happen this time guys!

The Group Deal will be setup for 8-12 orders, but there's no upper limit if demand is strong. In order to begin production, we'll need a MINIMUM of 8 orders and once that is reached, the 3-4 week production process will begin.

The 3" catback will be made to the same high standards as Cattman's 2.5" catback series for the Maxima, featuring mandrel-bent 16ga stainless steel tubing, 3/8" steel plate flanges (nickel-plated), single O2 ports (w/ plugs for 95/96 Maximas/I30s), extra ports available on request, and a single-tip all-stainless steel muffler. Resonators are optional because some of these will go on turbo'd motors, which really don’t need a resonator.

If the customer decides to add a resonator later (or wants the ability to switch back and forth) a bolt-in resonator section is available, a bolt-in resonator section can be purchased now or at a later time and will bolt right up with no modifications, cutting welding, etc.

The production process begins when the 8th order is received, and should take 3-4 weeks to complete. Group deal prices will be $684.99 without a resonator and $749.99 with a resonator. Additional O2 ports for wideband sensors can be ordered for $20/each. Prices do not include shipping. Your cc will not be charged until the catback is done and ready to be shipped to you.

If you'd like to purchase one of these systems, simply give Cattman Performance a call and place a backorder, and then I'll post your name on the list in this thread (or hide it if you prefer). Cattman Performance phone #s are 800.759.9920 (continental US exc AZ), 888.296.5153 (Canada and AZ) and 520.575.8195. They're open 9-5 Mountain Standard Time (11-7 EST/10-CST/PST 8-4), Monday-Friday.

This is a must have mod for turbo'd and supercharged 4th gen Maximas. Either Brian or myself are available to answer any questions via email, PM or the Cattman phone numbers.

Thank you, and let's make this deal work!

James

I'm so in for this, will call tomorrow. I love the option to bolt in a resonator. Any chance we can use our own muffler? I have one that I would prefer to use. God willing we will finally get this part made

Thanks for agreeing to promote this, Wizard. Line up, sign up, and let's make some 3" catbacks. No carping from 5th gen guys, either, we'll do the same thing for the 00-03 Max too (as soon as we have 8 orders).

I suppose, but I can't guarantee that our b-pipe will integrate properly with your muffler/rear section - might require some custom work. I'll also note that a "b-pipe only" order won't get us closer to the production goal, we need to get at least 8 orders for entire catbacks

crap crap crap. This makes things much more difficult since I've invested money in some parts already I have some things to try and work out it seems.

For those wanting to order, I'll note that Cattman Performance will be closed Christmas week. We'll probably re-open the 29th, but if we're not back in town on schedule it will be the 30th.

This is not necessarily a major issue, don't get too steamed yet. I was just making the point that since the muffler you bought isn't familiar to me, I can't say with certainty that the two flanges will meet up in exactly the right place. If you bought a universal muffler and will need to have the rear section custom-fabricated, that should work fine as long as you have a decent shop doing the work (tell them you'll kill them if they cut off the back flange of your b-pipe).

My other point isn't a deal-breaker by any means, I was just saying that we need to receive 8 orders for full catbacks - as long as we get 8 catback orders, 1 "orphan" b-pipe is no problemo!

Extra bump for this thread. Cattman has top quality products for the Maxima community and continues to expand his line of products for us. I would be all over this if I didn't already do a custom 3'inch exhaust. This is a MUST for any boosted car!

I'll add that although I'd generally recommend this 3" system for forced-air applications, there are a couple of minor exceptions.

Most commonly, the 3" catback will benefit a VQ35DE-to-A32 transplant. There's pretty solid documentation on maxima.org that shows a 3" catback has significant benefits over an identical 2.5" catback, when installed with a normally-aspirated (stock internals) VQ35DE.

In theory, a 3" exhaust would also benefit a normally-aspirated VQ30DE with some sort of major all-motor (high-rev) build. I doubt that there are many (if any) of these out there, but very roughly speaking, if a normally aspirated VQ30DE motor had a rev limiter at 7k or more, and was making 220+whp, I think a 3" catback would outperform a 2.5".

Give us a call and place the order whenever you're ready. Since you don't pay anything until the part's ready, there's no risk. We'll make these as soon as we have about 7 orders, but its been slow going so far.

Now that everyone has pretty much gotten their tax return, is there any interest in this?? Or should the idea be abandoned once and for all??

Somehow we managed to go from a tentative list of 15 interested people, 1/3 of which were committed to buy, to 1 or 2 people.
