3.0 no more........3.5 soon come

Uhhhh yeh.....soooo I popped my 3.0, lol

Specs on that motor
Stock bottom end (should hold 450ish)
HR Headgaskets
HR Headstuds
Revup oil pump
Rev Up cams
HR springs double shimmed
Revup Retainers
Port and Polished heads
Portmatched LIM to heads, and LIM to UIM
New Valve Seals

Motor was built by Kevin, KRRZ350. He did a great job and for a sweet price. Very good guy to deal with.

Is it possible if you could share more details as to how the engine poped, so others can use it for future reference, 1st time iv seen broken rod on a three 0? like how much boost/hp, what is knocking (too much timing?), did you overrev etc...

Seen that ur going to be revving pretty high (based on the HR equipment ur using), you sure u going to feel safe making 450ish with stock rods and reving 7k?

Was running 15psi, it was holding well when I was spraying alot of meth. I turned down the meth a bit and then had a lil boost spike. Motor popped at about 5k.

I boost spike will do it everytime. I am guessing your not running a 3inch exhaust or have the wastegate in the best location

BTW, how many psi did it shot up too

damn thats tough. I remember when I had my 3.0 at 15-16psi for a while, eventually I swapped it out because of excessive blowby (car would get covered in smoke at every stop light). It probably had broken ring lands. I know it was my fault because of my style of tuning, I would turn everything up high till I heard audible knock then set things back a lil bit till it went away, NOT GOOD TUNING at all, but it lasted me about 2 years on boost and another 1 or 2 years on nitrous.

No software controlling your fuel/boost?

^ my fuel setup is simple, FMU and contrary to common belief the walbro and fmu works nicely with turbo. It does not take too long to bump fuel pressure.

lets just say someone was helping me and pinched my WG line with a strap
can't be mad because I looked it over and didn't catch it. The WG was opening but the line was pinched so it wasnt opening fast enough

I agree FMU and walbro should work pretty good. I didnt have an FMU but I do have a 1:1 fpr, i had my base fuel pressure at about 60psi on 440cc's and it had absolutely no leaning problems at 15psi. so with FMU having normal base pressure it is perfect.

I figured that was the issue, someone pulling the reference line or something like that by mistake. Sucks such a simple mistake can destroy a motor. Iv maxed out my boost gauge a few times (max is 20psi) on my 3.5 lol, but thank god my turbo is way out of efficiency at that range and no damage was done, despite being built.

I can not see from the pic but did you drill a hole in the rear timing cover to allow oil to pass thur. The one on the front somewhat lines up but the rear one does not, if you look at the 3.5 inner cover you'll see what I am talking about. It's near the timing marks by the vtc niods
