Turbo size question ?

OK i have an auto 5.5 and was looking for power/boost from the 2000 rpm range to 6500 rpm to have useable power and was wondering would this size turbo be to small. T3/T4 TURBO CHARGER .63ar (polished compressor housing)

Intake: 3 inch
Inlet: 2 inch
Compressor trim: .50
Compressor Wheel diameter: 50.16 / 76.84
Turbine Wheel diameter: 54.06 / 65.20
Exhaust Trim: .63ar
T3 flange
5 bolt standard

The set up is going to be a rear mount turbo not looking to have ultimate power and I'm new to turboing so I kind of want a starter set up for now... any info would be great

That all I been doing the last few weeks , my eyes and head hurts lol got a pretty good opinion from another org member witch lead me to the t3/t4 hybrid . I won't say the name for conferdentionlty : I started off with the stock T3 from the 300z and on my set up, it begins to create boost at approximately 1800 rpm and is at full boost (roughly 8-10 psi was the max I ran at the time) at around 2800-3k rpm. So, given your effective rpm range, this would seem to be a direct path to take. Definately sounds like you shoudl stay on the smaller side of the turbos given what you seem to be looking to gain and where in the power band you want the power.

yep, from what it sounds like you want a smaller turbo, but dont go too small or the turbo will die out at high rpms. But whatever you get go BALL BEARING, there is nothing like it!!

A .50 trim T3-T4 is good for up to 420hp, so you're good there.

yeah my final Turbo will be ball bearing. I'm going to try a non ball bearing Turbo with these stats for now 63ar (polished compressor housing)

Intake: 3 inch
Inlet: 2 inch
Compressor trim: .50
Compressor Wheel diameter: 50.16 / 76.84
Turbine Wheel diameter: 54.06 / 65.20
Exhaust Trim: .63ar
And if it preforms like I want it and get the power in the range I want
I'm going to get a good ball bearing turbo

yeah hopefully I get power in the 2,000 rpm -6,500 range
If not I'll probably go with a Turbo one step up better

What do you mean one step up better? Are you referring to a different trim? A T3/T4 or equivalent is all you need. Better do some searching to see how much your automatic will handle. You give it too much and it will just puke its guts all over the road. Depending on what trim you're looking at 400-490, almost 500 horsepower potential.

I have it for sale here ... i put up the ad maybe 6 or more months ago when I first set out my quest to turbo the maxima. https://maxima.org/showthread.php?t=638967 if I could sell it before I get the rest of my part for my set up I just pick up a good ball bearing turbo or just run this one til it dies and get a better one later

This time I won't let a certain member who's turbo car hasnt ran/ run right since I join the forum. Put my project down cause he thinks he knows what he talking about lol
