Thoughts about going 4" exhaust? Improved equal length header design?

I'm running the smallest pulley Vortech makes. I may run a 928motorsports pulley and go even smaller. Yes, I can still do cams, and yes I'm still a 3.0. I want to see what can be done with the ol' trusty 3.0 for now w/o going 3.5.
same here, i want to push the 3.0 to the limit and see how much it can take.

Sorry for dragging my feet on this fellas. I took delivery of the exhausts and stare at them everyday in my living room. Install should happen soon, just gotta catch up with a bunch of crap life has thrown at me lately. More pics, start up sound clips, drive by sound clips to follow...

If this works out I might be interested in going 4" rather than 3" on the beast.

I would love a 4" cat-back if it has gains. The beast doesn't have anything on it yet. Just cattman headers/y and fast-cat.

Judging by his other stuff I think we'll get a healthy dose of each.

Well, I've hit a snag. The canister is hitting the rear crash bar and won't go any higher. I guess I have 3 options. Get new exhaust hangers that are about 1/2" longer center to center (maybe these Nismo ones are shorter than OEM?), heat up and bend the exhaust hangar a little, or cut away some of the crash bar (there's a good 1/2" lip that could be easily grinded or cut off)...or maybe a combination of 2 or 3 things. What do you guys think?

On the bright side, it's looking good so far going over the rear beam.

I mounted the whole system but left the hangers out of the equation and supported the canister with a box. I determined that if I get exhaust hangers that are 1" longer, then it will mount up just fine.

Would you mind weighing the Cattman 3" without the cat?

Thank you for doing this! Oh my gawd! I need... And people said a larger exhaust wouldn't fit. Imagine if the rear axle beam was made out of something lighter... So a Ti exhaust like that must cost about a bajillion dollars, perhaps there is a possibility one can be made out of something more affordable for us folks with less fortunate budgets. lol Do you happen to have any dimensions of it so one can try to bend one up? Btw for those of you asking about sound and dyno clips, can you handle the truth? I'm just happy this thing exists, period. Good work!

Well it's pretty much done. It looked great up on the lift, but once on the ground, I'm not feeling the gap between the exhaust tip and the bumper cover too much. Right now it's a finger gap. Will reduce it to half of what you see. The tip is too big as well, but maybe if I build a CF diffuser for this Max it will look more in place. Guess we'll see. My next project is a proper catch can.

Anyway, it does fit. There's about 3/8th inch of gap on both sides between this pic and the gas tank tie strap on the other side.

This 4" system has absolutely no banging whatsoever compared to Cattman's poorly fitting 3" system. I did have to move the bracket for the Addco rear sway bar more towards the rear of the car, otherwise that would've banged the Ti system. I also added a snap ring ("E" ring) at the midpoint of the Bpipe to keep the system steady.

When I get on it, the sound of this exhaust reminds me of F1 cars. The GoPro doesn't really do the sound justice IMO.

This first sound clip is literally the first time I ever started it up; hence why you see crap flying out the exhaust. It’s about 2 minutes and pretty boring, sorry. Should’ve revved it more. I haven’t started the Max in about 3 months, so the first minute there’s no action.

The second sound clip is me driving around a little. At one point, I go to redline! Can I get 3 oh yeeeaaah’s!! LOL

I’ll edit a 3rd video with just the redline pull uninterrupted. Maybe I’ll do a drive by pull too.

Keep in mind these are the first GoPro videos I have ever shot and edited. The corny video I made took more hours to edit than I care to admit. GoPro Studio software is a little clumsy.

Start up:

If you haven't seen Ferris Bueller's Day Off, you won't get some of the references made in my second video. LMK what you think of my cheesy video.

Unfortunately when uploaded to YouTube, some how static noise has been introduced into the video and the video quality has gone down too. Maybe I'll try to upload a higher res video to YT rather than taking the suggested "save as for YouTube quality" that the GoPro Studio software recommended.
