You'll have to watch your turning radius, I'm sure they'll rub.

255 is prolly best for a 9" rim, with 10" you can get all the way up to 275 I believe.

yes i am saying i believe 255 (maybe 265) is the widest normal street tire people can tuck in the front without too much trouble. so i compared that lets say 255/25.4 = 10.0" or a 265 =~ 10.4, so im wondering if i can fit a 10.5" slick in there without tooo much trouble, or am i just making stupid comparisons here? although i will have to watch turns and stuff like that, its for a straight drag strip primarily

If your NA stick to 22in slicks, if you have a power adder like nitrous or boost go with a 24in slick. Your car probably won't make enough power to use a 26in slick.

I have debated on 24.5" .. but think that or 26 would be ok, not sure.
the car is in the 500whp range.
but 26x10.5's are available immediately, barely used, on wheels, locally, and i need them for this saturday, im wondering if i should go for it and buy them..

But you have to understand that the width of the tire changes as you go down the track. The faster you go and the warmer they get, the tires shrink in and extend in radius. So, if you have 10.5" slicks and they start extending down the track, they will FOR SURE rub you inner fender/strut/fender trim, etc. I have 26/8.5/15 inch slicks on my Kosei K1 wheels and the tires run VERY VERY close to the inner part of the fender. Sometimes, when I turn VERY sharp with them at low speeds, they rub and gash the slicks. I have already replaced one of them because of this. I would personally stay away from the 10.5......
