Correct Offset? 99' SE HELP!

I was wondering if these rims would fit mine. They are 18x7.5 with a 45mm offset and 5x114.3 bolt pattern. My manual says that my 16" rims have a 45mm offset, but when I checked the maximafaq section, it said I can mount 35mm-38mm rims. I have a 1999 Maxima SE. What is offset anyway? Thanks.

stock offset is 45

35-38 is good for clearing big brakes but if you go down to a 35 you might rub if your car is too low

stay between 35-45mm offsets... if you're planning big brakes... 35-40mm are good offsets but it all depends on wheel design and the inner clearance of the spokes

Hello carnal_c30:

I have a '96 I30 and just bought today a set of '04 Maxima rims/tires. My '96 is 15x6.5, 45mm offset, with 205/65R15. The new (some months old) '04 Maxima is the stock 17x7" 7-spoke with 225/55HR17 tires. (pls don't laugh at me...for this emotional buy as the rims are in good condition). The gentleman sold me the '04 rims said that the offset is 38mm. Am I ok with this mod? We put one rim to try on my car, it fits, except I might need new mounting nuts (to avoid scratching around the holes) plus I need center ring (as the guy keep the ring). Any recommnedations on the nuts and rings ?

Tks (I'm new here and learning...)

Re: Rims & Offset questions

hey whatsup? welcome =p

yup the '04 wheels will fit on your car just fine, I'm not sure if the lugs are different on the '04s but if the ones you have wont work then just go for tuner style lugs at your local tire place... they are more pricey than regular lugs. the hubcentric rings should be available try your dealership.. i dont know if the '04s center bore is larger than the 4th gen (95-96) so the ones off of an '04 might work too
