widest tires on original rims?

how wide can I go without changing the rims? is 17" ok?

im currently running 245-40 in the rear no problems looks more aggressive

.....and if you drive like I do you risk killing yourself if the tire says enough and goes for a walk.

225 is safe. 235+ is not. I had it happen to a friend 2 years ago when he was driving home and it wasn't fun.

i got rid of those 225 stock crap tires asap and been through about 3 sets of 235's just fine and currently riding 245's on the rear no prob.

i think i'll be getting 225/60-15, but want to make sure it won't rub on the arch on turns as one installer said it might..
anyone wants to comment on it?

should stick to 225 or less if your rims are 6.5 wide.. 225 would be fine on 7 inch wide rims. 235 on a 6.5 rim is just a bit too wide.

I have 235/45-17 on my stock 2K SE 17" rims (17x7 I think?), and they look just fine (Michelin Pilot Sport A/S)... in fact it kinda looks like the tires don't bulge out as far as the stock Potenza 225/50-17's did... which is odd.
