Thanx fellow org members......

for your great reviews on the Continental ContiExtremeContacts. I just picked up my 235/45/17 over the weekend and they seem to be just as described. I had 35000+ on the stock Craptenzas, which have ruined my opinion of Bridgestone tires. I drove down to the TireRack in South Bend, IN and had all 4 installed for $530 out the door. However, they said they had to inflate to 36psi...this sounded a bit high. I know they're the experts on tires, but does everyone else with these tires on stock rims run the same pressure???

Not ContiExtreme, but Michelin Pilot Sport A/S (235/45ZR17) I run 35psi cold with no problem (so it probably reaches 38 or so while warm...)
I think the Michelins have a maximum pressure rating of 51psi, although it might be touchy running very high pressures on stock rims (i.e. don't try it, 35-36 is high enough)

I run 40psi on the Craptenzas.

I have the Continental ContiTouring tires in the stock size (225/50) and am running 32psi all around, although I probably will change to 34F/30R. I forgot what psi I ran with my RE92s, but it was something similar. I wanted the ContiExtreme tires but wanted to stick with the stock size because of the narrow stock rims. It turns out the ContiTouring tires are OEM on the new BMW 5 Series, so I felt a bit better about the purchase. My dry and wet weather traction is much better with the ContiTouring tires than with the RE92s. BTW, how in the blue hell did you get 35,000 miles out of the Bridgestones? I got to 18,000 miles before the tread ran out and I rotated them every 5,000 miles.

My buddy got these installed on his Acura CL-Type S 215/50/17 and he is running 38lbs f/r. Seems like alot, but when Tire Kingdom first installed them, they only put 32lbs and it looked like they were sitting on the rims. We had our first flurries on Friday here in Columbus, so I'll be picking up a set of these soon as well. After driving his car in a heavy downpour at 80+ with no hydroplaning, I was sold.

i heard the sidewalls were a little softer (ride comfort?) than other tires so the added pressure helps to keep the sidewall straight.

You can't compare the OEM tires to their aftermarket tires. Totally different breed.
