I NEED snow tires... what is the best for the least amount of money?

After driving home tonight i decided i need snow tires. i mean i can't stop, i can't go, no uphill or down hill... and i can't even think about turns. my car is terriable, and with no ABS, i can't drive anywhere.

So, i ask of you before i go to townfair tire... what is the best snow tire that i can buy for the least amount of money? i have not had a job in 4 months, so take that into consideration.. thanks guys..

Town Fair = not good, my little bro' lives in CT. But taking your job situation into consideration, I really don't know what to say???

Anywho, it's gonna run you $100 a piece no matter what you do, unless you buy something made in China. Hakkapeliitta 2 if you need studs, Nokian WR if you go studless, which I think is ok in CT. If you go mail order, I'd suggest Arctic Alpins, because they get a good write-up in Canada. But in New England, Hakkas rule.

WHEN THE F*CK DID U GET A 99 SE-L?! That sh*t looks hot as hell!!! I remember u when u had a 95 black max lol. Dam, this is a good question that everyone would love to know...i think everyone has their taste though. But i'll be standing near to see what i should prepare for next winter. I paid 700 dollars for my tires (michelin pilot XGT 4 all season tires). That price was installed from costco. now these tires are like 129 a piece on tirerack.com . 500 and change...

Blizzak my friend, WS-50. It is made to go slow, and yes it stops on ICE(my wife's Lexus IS 300 proves that). You could get the Blizzak LM-22 ; it is made to go much faster, but it does not have that grip. Goodluck! [IMG]

Depends how serious a winter we're talking about. Blizzak is for the mass-market, not bad, cheap, but value-wise ok. In New England, where I think the poster is, Hakkas are far more popular. Gislaved are around too, but I never liked them. Hakka 2 studded, they'd be overkill here in Philly, where a Blizzak will more than do. Again, since he is jobless, I figured performance/$ was critical. my .02

i am located in new england, Rhode island to be exact. I am not really sure what to get... i mean i can afford about $150-200 for two tires.. because thats all i am going to buy. i have never had a car that was even remotely "good" in the snow. i am fed up with it... i want a tire that will let me stop fast, and let me take off on a hill without a problem. (i drive a 5spd.) i just got my 5spd not even a month ago, and i am still learning how to take off on a hill, and the snow is not helping. i just do not need any accident right now, especially since i can not afford insurance right now. (i have a new job in the works) any links to these tires you are talking about? thanks again...

Go to Tirerack. Their cheapest snow tire for the 15' maxima wheel is about 50-60 per tire (Dunlop something or other). I have them and they get the job done for the price.
