Is anyone running Falken Ziex 512s?

My 235/45R17 HTR+s Sumitomos with only 14K miles are at "Deafcon 4" in terms of tread wear in the middle (very common problem with these tires). I had been considering Pirelli Nero A/S 235/45R17 ($127 from the TireRack), but now I've read some good things about the Falken Ziex 512 and even Consumer Reports ranked it #1 for all-season high performance. The 512s are also available in the more ideal 225/50R17 size and they're only $104 from Discount Tire and my local tire place carries the tires and will price match.

Anyone have thse on their Maxima? The reviews from the WRX guys seem to be pretty good.

Yes

I have the Falken 512's on my car and I love them. I have the 235/45/17 wrapped on the stock 2k rims. They are quiet, smooth, and grip very well. They are soft though. I would have to say that they are as soft as my previous Dunlop A2's in 205/65/15. Hope this helps

i'm running these in the 225/50 offset on the stock 17's... i really like them. Road noise is nice, and it has excellent wet traction

Thanks for the responses. From what I've read on other boards and in Consumer Reports, this is a great tire. I think I have about another months life left in my Sumitomo HTR+s.

I've put over 500 miles on my set of 512's. Not sure on tire wear yet, but otherwise they are great. I've tried them on wet, icy, and dry roads and they are by far superior to the RE92's. I'd expect them to perform well in the snow based upon their performance thus far. I hope to be able to test them out in the snow this weekend and will get back to you if I do. I noticed they want to roll when cornering hard at faster speeds, but are better if you inflate them a little above the stock 32 psi. They don't give a terribly soft and mushy ride. I didn't notice any difference in steering response and they do like to grip grooves and uneven pavement.
Hope this helps a little,
Jesse
