I always wanted to know what rims will fit on my max. What do all the descriptive numbers mean?

example:
19x8.5 = ?
5x114.3 bolt pattern = ?
+47mm offset. = ?

This is prob a dumb question (I know what a few of the numbers mean) But I always wondered what they all ment, and what is compatible with our cars. Also what numbers are able to change and still fit and witch ones won't

Maybe this shoud be a sticky?

19x8.5 = 19 inches tall x 8.5 inches wide
5x114.3 = 5 bolts x (114.3 = mm) not sure exactly what it means though
not sure what offset is...maybe someone has the info

You have to be careful with getting too wide of a rim, it may rub if the tire and rim are too wide.

Actually this info should be there in the FAQs, but to my horror, it isn't. At least I could not find it.

19" tall, 8.5" wide like Phatmax98 said.

read this from the tire rack. Pretty straighforward.

read this from the tire rack. Actually, I had to read it a couple times to fully appreciate what effect this number has on the rim.
