19" tire size?

I just got a set of 19X8.5 Axis Illuminati rims (37mm offset) and I'm not sure what size tires I can go with. I think the right size would be 235-35-19 but if possible I'd like to go with wider tires for more grip and hopefully a little taller to help protect the rims in my pothole infested city. I also plan on lowering the car sometime if this makes a difference. Since the search is down a link or some advice would be great

Thanks

I've also got the illuminati's, i'm putting 245/40/19's on because i'm scared to death of potholes, and also will be lowered - if you want 35's, you can go with a 245 on them with no problem. Good choice in wheels by the way, I personally am getting agitated seeing mine sit in the basement and not on the Max

245/40s are an odd size and too much of a speedo error. I went with 245/35 on my Momos. Yes I did crack 2 of them with the DC potholes. Im now on 235/35s on my new set of 19s. So far no issue.

Yeah I know what you mean I hate having them in the basement, I keep one in my back seat to show off to all my friends tho

I was hoping that 245/40's would fit but I wasn't sure. Thats probably what I'll end up putting on if I know for sure there won't be any rubbing issues. Btw what kind of tires are you looking at? I'm thinking Toyo Proxes T1S but looking at a few others. Its almost time to put them on so I'd like to order them in the next week or 2.

I'm looking at the Falken GRB-451's in a 245/40 - $199 a piece from Discount Tire Direct. I'm not as concerned with a speedo error as I am about rubbing, and even then much more worried about potholes so that is the size I'll most likely go with, unless someone tells me they absolutely won't work.
