18's or 19's

ive been thinkin about it for a awhile and im not sure if i should go with 18's or 19's. I want 18's cause they still look good and the tires are a lot less than tires for 19's and i have a better chance of not screwing them up, such as like potholes and stuff cause the streets here are horrible. But then i want 19's because, well there 19's.........enough said there. Just wanted to see what yall thought.

i say get the 19's 20's are to big but i think 19's are perfect on a max. don't forget to install some JIC's while your spening all this money.

other people will tell you 19's ride harsher, easier to damage, and cost alot more to shoe. its all true. but i think the 19's are worth every penny...

I think it depends on what u want from ur car. If u are strickly show go 19's but if u want ur car to be performance and show i would say aim for 18's it won't slow u down as much. THere is always a possibility u can get some centerline rims which weigh around 20 lbs for a 19" but they are a lil more expensive.

18's 19's look to big and the rotational mass plus dead weight= dead acceleration, ive paced in my lightly modded max with a 20'' rimmed s/c max...

19s will make you bling bow show stopper. they look hott if you got a good drop to go w/ it. most peeps on here are concerned w/ speed so 19s never cross their mind. its about what you want. weight is also a factor.

go with 19s... people say 19s are heavy and bla bla but honestly they barly weight more than 2k2 rims and if your going with 18s then they wont be much diffrent from 19s either. As for potholes you should be ok unless you hit a really big one. Plus 19s look much better

if you're worried about 19's and potholes, get 40 series tires....you'd most likely be getting 40 series on your 18's anyway...but if your roads are really really THAT bad, you should re-think the whole thing period...

EXCELLENT POST

I've been thinking about 18" or 19" too. its just TOO damn hard to decide.

Here is how i look it:

18"
Pros: better gas mileage than 19"s, better ride quality, lighter, harder to damage and will cost u less.
Cons: they look kind of small

19"
Pros: Look extremly good (judging by pics). sometimes look too big.

Cons: worse gas mileage, harsher ride, alot more expensive, easier to damage and makes ur car slower.

Final decision : CANT MAKE 1

btw think about the braking too. its too hard to stop 19"

If you are worried about potholes, stay stock or get 18s. If you only care about looks, 19s or 20s.

Cons of 19s are not neccesarilly worse gas mileage or acceleration. As I said above I use to have HEAVY 245/45/18s (big fat meaty tires)that were basically the same overall dimater as my 225/35/19s (skinny tires) whick are alot lighter. I have better acceleration w/ my 19s than I did w/ the 18s b/c of the weight and the gas mileage is no difference either b/c of weight and overall diameter. Is just depends on how heavy the rims you go w/ and how big of a series tire you go with. The tires on my 19s are extremly thin.

I was more comfortable takin turns at 50 w/ my old set up, now I might take it at 40 w/ these wheels. That is the major disadvantage IMO. But I was unhappy w/ the 18s b/c I thought they looked a little small. It all depends on how you drive, dont let saving 50cent worth of gas make you get 18s, thats dumb.......
