Is this tire size ok?

Will either one of these two be okay on a 17x8 rim on a 2k2 Max?

235/45
245/45

I want to achieve a couple of things with this change of tires, namely:

- More "padding", i currently run on 225/40/18's
- Better ride
- Hopefully get away from all the bubbles i've been having
- Fill-up the wheel well a bit more

Your help is gladly appreciated.

Thanks.
- Mike

Yeah they will both work fine on an 8" wheel.

Would an offset of 35mm on an 8" be good enough to line up the wheel/tire with the fenders or would that be too much? Based on this it looks like the tires would extend an additional 23mm from the OEM 7" at 45mm offset. Is that good?

Ammi, why would you go with 235's more? Is it just because it has a lower profile? Anyway, i'm trying to go for a 245/45/17 if possible just so i'm closer to the oem 225/50/17 in terms of speedo accuracy.

Thanks for the responses guys!

Thanks, so would that mean - based on the OEM, if i go 8" in size the total extension would be close to 2" outwards towards the fender?

The answer is that it depends upon the offset of the OEM rim and the aftermarket rim in question. Check in the FAQ for a link to a URL that will help you calculate the offsets.
