anyone have pictures of 3rd gens with 15" wheels & lowered?

 

just look at a stock car. are you thinking of getting 15's?

 

I was thinking of get better tires & lighter rims in 15" and lowering the car for better performance. would it be better to go with big and heavy?

 

Well what kind of performance are you going for?

You can get 17" wheels that are lighter than most 15" wheels. 17's will not hurt your straight line performance much, but will improve your cornering a bunch.

 

well i'm just looking for some spirited street driving.
right now I have a tire and wheel combo of 34 lbs. and the new combo is under 30 lbs., the only 17" combo I can afford is over 40 lbs..will it make much differance going from 215/60/15 to 225/45/17?

 

You can still keep that weight. I would go with some Rota Subzeros 17x7.5 with a 42 or 45 offset, you can get them for around $500 for the wheels. Get some 225/45/17 tires and you should be about 35lbs for the combo and your handling will improve GREATLY, I doubt you will feel a loss in straight line.

 

17" subzeros only come in 45mm and 48mm offset I read that anything over 40mm will not fit 3rd gen's.

 

45 will be fine, there are LOTS of members running 45 Subs.
