What tires?

What size wheel do you have? Model year 2000 Maximas had 15", 16", and 17" wheels.
If you have the 15" wheels, many would recommend the Falken Ziex ZE-512 (about $65 per tire).
If you have the 16" wheels (5-spokes), I would go for the Bridgestone Potenza RE950. It gets good reviews and it is affordable at around $100 to $110 per tire. I have these, and traction is great for dry and wet conditions.
If you have the 17" wheels (6-spokes), many would recommend either the Kumho ECSTA KH11 (about $100 per tire), Falken Ziex ZE-512 (about $110), or Nitto NT-450 Extreme Performance (about $110).
The Falken earned a #1 rating in Consumer Reports last November for best overall all-season tire. Here are the top seven of eighteen tested tires from that issue of CR:
1) Faulken Ziex ZE 512 (fine grip with comfort; emphasizes braking and ride)
2) Bridgestone Turanza LS-H (fine grip with comfort; emphasizes handling)
3) Bridgestone Potenza RE950 (best three season grip in this category)
4) Michelin Pilot XGT H4
5) Dunlop SP Sport A2
6) Michelin Energy MXv4 Plus
7) Pirelli P6 Four Seasons
I'm getting the Falken tires this coming weekend for the 17" wheels that I also have, so I can't wait to see how those perform.
If your Maxima originally came with the Bridgestone Potenza RE92, avoid those at all costs. They are terrible in wet weather, from what most people say.
Peace.

For the Falken Ziex ZE-512 in the 205/65/15 size, you can either order them online and take them to a tire place of your choice to get them installed:
www.discounttiredirect.com - $55.00 each plus free shipping
Or you can go to your local Discount Tire Co./America's Tire Co. and see if they can order the tires in and mount them for you:
www.discounttire.com
If you order the tires online, you can always take the tires to a Costco (if you have membership) and have their tire department mount them for you for about $10 per tire.
Peace.
