what do all these numbers meaN?!

This is going to sound like a dumb question for most of you, but please help a fellow "Maximer" out. I have no idea what these numbers mean. Please break this down for me.

235/45/17

245 treadwidth in millimeters. 45 is the size of the sidewall (45% in this case of the treadwidth which in this case is 245). 17 is the rim diameter and it is measured in inches. Weird combination of metric and imperial. There are other numbers as well to tell you the date they were made, the load rating and of course the speed rating. It is easy to figure out the overall diameter of your tire using all those numbers which comes in useful when you are changing wheel size or even just cahnging your tire diameter. HTH
