Tire Weights

Everyone's always talikng about light wheels and how they're so important for performance, but nobody ever talks about lightweight tires...even though they make up about half of the weight of the wheel. Does anyone know the weights of any specific tires?...or do you guys think that all tires are the same.

We discuss that all the time too. You talkin bout street, drag, or race rubber? Usually street tires of the same size are all gonna be within a few lbs of each other because of similar steel belting construction. With wheels you can change material - tread not so much.

Actually, Toyo makes some of the lightest tires. T1-S and FZ4. The goodyear F1 GS-D3 is also pretty lightweight.
