Need new tire tips

I have a 2000 SE which came with Toyos, 215/55x16's stock. I had the dealer replace the 17 inch wheels with the stock ones for a smoother ride. Anyway,
I'm interested in a good (40k+ mile) all season tire for around $100 each.
Any suggestions? Please tell me what you paid and where you got them.
thanks
Mike

Well, I got Yokohama AVS ES100, and they work great. Grip very well and do awsome in the water, got em for 125 a peice, little more than you wanted, but does an awsome job. I love the tread design also.

This is a good tire... Hope this helps

My girlfriend has those on her Jetta and they are some of the worst tires I have ever driven on in the snow. They are awesome in dry weather, solid in the water (provided you don't have a bad tie rod....long story ) but don't do a thing in the snow. Also, they're directional, so if you want to be able to rotate your tires all around, you lose that (just front to back with directional tires of the same size, obviously). If you don't get a lot of snow, they're worth checking out.

I sense that this is more of a performance tire than an all season tire and thus the life is probqbly pretty short. Am I correct?

The tire life on those is actually pretty good. They hold up really well for a more sporty tire. My girlfriend has about 15k on hers and they look almost brand new. I know that's not too much milage, but no wear issues so far.

They're not meant to be driven in the snow, I had the same experience. I have the P-Zero Nero, they have a high tread wear rating (400) and are all season, tehy may not have the "cool" directional look to them, but they're good tires.

Keep in mind my Username... VEGASmaxima... I live in desert, great for this weather, great for long term stuff. Used em in the snow once in Northern Nevada, didnt have any troubles myself, I kept pretty good traction. Just my 2 cents...

heres the thing.. tires are the most crucial part between you and the road.. you want to buy some tires. that are dependable .. not cheap...

if i were you .. i would get Micheline Energy MXV4
they go around 130 per tire.. but are one of the best all season tires around...
i have them on my stock wheels and they are great..
my dad also has had them on his car and its been working awsom for the past 80k

I bought, and enjoy, Continental Extreme Contact tires. I think I paid like $95 a tire at Tires Plus. They are V rated, and they are great in the rain. I live in Atlanta, so I couldn't tell you how they perform in the snow.

Toyo Proxes 4 -- 235/45 or 225/45.

Z-rated, directional, and M+S (All season)

20k+ miles, still 60%+ treadwear, rotated every 6k.

One of the better wet-handling tires I've driven, especially vs. craptenzas. Slightly "grabby" if the road is uneven, but no real complaints otherwise.
