Tire Sizing......need help

So, im buying new tires, and im keeping the original rims. If my current tires are 225 50 17's, can I try a different spec tire? Everyone is out of the size im looking for. I have no idea how to convert tire sizes either.

thanks

Get 215/50/17. If your next question is "What tires should I get", I suggest you do some reading before someone else flame you.

He has a 5th gen, I believe. So going from 225/50/17 to 215/50/17 is not too bad, compared to 235/45/17, as most people have put in their cars.
