Need help with tire, offset, bolt pattern, and width, want to use 235/40/zr18

Okay Im looking at a MB motorsport rim, it comes in 18x7.5 and 18x8. either way i want to use 235/40ZR18, would that work for either width, the prices of the rims are the same, I would rather go for the 7.5 because of weight, but how much heavier would .5 width with 18 inch circumference be? What offset do i need, and what bolt pattern?

what do you think about the rims???
My brother just got veloche vendetta's in 18, i love them i want the same in silver and this is the closest i found yet.

Thanks,
MAXecutive

Hey, the wheel looks very nice! I like it. You should get 18x8 wheels with +40mm offset and 235/40/18 tires.

the rims come in: ($164 each)
18x7.5 5-114.3 38sm
18x7.5 5-114.3 48sm
18x8 5-114.3 38sm

What will the 2 mm difference cause, the wheel will go more in or more out?

I want to get Falken GR Beta 235/40ZR18, $135 each.

Would taking the 7.5 have any weight advantage?
Will it fit well on this tire size, or is it too risky?

The total cost will be $1,250 balanced and shipped. Is that a good price? I never purchased rims before.

Thanks,
MAXecutive

Get 18x8 with +38mm offset. Smaller number on the offset = wheels going out more. Good choice on the tire.

Yeah, the 7.5" is surely lighter than the 8" and might help with the acceleration times, but you lose on handling. I think $1250 is a good price to pay for the wheels/tires combined.

Now im thinking bout the falken 512 tires, because I want an all season tire, I dont drive in snow but u know jsut in case. I would leave the rims on all year, its not chrome, so dont have to worry much, what do you think about that tire. The GR betas are bad for snow right?

Thanks

Yeah, the Falken tires are not meant to drive on snow, but you might be able to get away by driving 20 mph on < 6 inches of snow.

The Falken Ziex ZE-512 is a all season performance tire, wouldn't that be good for snow?

what about sumitomo HTR+ all season? they are on sale on tirerack right now I believe. only thing is they have a "squishy" sidewall that IMO flexes too much

I wish I can edit my post but I can't. Anyway, when I said Falken tires, I was referring to the GR beta that MAXecutive was gonna buy, not Zeix-512. True that the 512 is an all-season tire and it's good to drive on snow/ice, but please use common sense. Don't drive 80 mph on ice and expect it'd give the traction you need. Any dedicated now tires like Blizzak and Arctic Alpin have much better traction on snow than any all-season tires.

Ok, well I'm not looking for excellent snow traction. I just want a good 235/40ZR18 tire that can handle a little snow, maybe to do about 45-50mph on the highway with no problems. Any last recommendations?

Thanks,
MAXecutive

If you got the money, Michelin Pilot Sport A/S. If you don't want to spend $250 a piece, you can always go w/ Ziex 512s.
