17" rims ???

I'm sorry if i should have posted this elsewhere but i like all the people's opinions who are always hovering over this forum section...I have the stock 17" rims on the 2000 SE and they are real heavy as you all know and slowin the car down...if i switched to 17" rims that weigh about 18 pounds each how much power would i be likely to gain??? i love my falken ziex ze-512 tires and i got them real cheap so i got 2 sets so i wanna use them and not switch to a bigger size rim ...any suggestion for rims...i want 5 pattern tho...thanks for any input

5th Gen 17" rims weigh 50 lbs. with tires...i'm not sure how much weight is from rims and how much from tires but i assume i'd lose a lot of pounds by switching to 18 lb rims

I'd stay 17" and look for lighter wheels that look cool to you. 18" will look nice, but probably slow you down a bit.

I have the same problem as you Kruppa, those heavy 17". I am thinking about getting 17" OZ Superleggeras in gun metal, they are light and look cool as hell on a max. Falken ziex ze-512 and OZs is a good combo.

the wieght of the wheel does matter but the Diamater of the wheel and tire is more importat. the small the diamater the less force it takes to turn the wheels. i have a friend that got some TE37s in an 18 they where much lighter that stock buth when he dynod he lost hors power to the wheels. I personaly have 18x8s and while yes they hook at the track i would like to go back down to a 17 even if it is only 7 wide. Just some food for thought
