No, they will not. Reason being is that they need a minimum rim width of 7.5 inches to fit properly. The only 235 that I am aware of that fits properly is a 235/50/17. now, with that said, you must take into account the error that a diff tire size creates. the 235/50 makes a 1.5% error (the speedo reads that much lower because the tires are that much taller).

If you read the FAQ in the 5th gen forum, there is a whole thread about this in there.

Possibly, but I know that this tire size would rub during U-turns and other extreme steering maneuvers.

they will fit, but it is not suggested. if you want 45 tires, i'd go w/ 225/45/17.

Anyone try running 245/50/17s? they're supposed to fit the 7" inch, but I wasn't sure on the clearance.

if you look a few posts before, we discussed this. T

SR20: The 235/45s DO NOT work on a 7" wheel. Id call back and change it to 225/45 if you are so eager to have a 45 series tire. Also, look for some inflated speedo #s and odo readings

I understand it was answered about the 245/45/17 but is this anecodotal or theoretical. the 245/45/17 requires a 7.5 inch rim, while the 245/50/17 only requires a 7 inch rim, I was wondering if that made a difference when it came to contact with the wheel well.

Frankly my car turns like a boat, which makes me ask if anyone has experience with the 245/50 and whether it rubs or not.

The reason the 50 series tire can fit a 7" rim is that the tire has a taller, more flexible sidewall. The widest tire the wheel well can fit is a 245. It will rub only at extreme lock or over big bumps. Id stick with a 235/50. Its more than enough tire (trust me) and you wont miss the extra cm of tire width.

I would go 235/50 but I'm having a hard time finding an high performance, all season tire that isn't $200. I was just hoping I had another alternative. Thanks for the info though.
