I've heard quite a bit of the "bubbling" of the paint in Motegi wheels. Don't know about the chromes though.

I have a set on my car, and there hasn't been any bubbling so far. And I have had mine for over a year now. Really, I haven't had any problems at all so far. I do know the painted tend to scratch real easy. I don't know if the chrome do or not.

Gotta love that gunmetal, it's a sweet color. I love the contrast it gives against my white car.

I think he wants us to throw insane amounts of coin into our cars like he does.

Your car is very nice, slammed95, but some of us get what we can find within our budget and that we feel are reasonably better than stock for the money. I think you paid more for your wheels than I paid for all of my mods put together.

I would love to spend several grand on rims and tires for my car, but my wife would probably divorce me. Instead, I put a bunch of money into refininishing our hardwood floors and bought some used rims off of ebay. That way we are both happy.

I just wouldn't go with cheap rims like that. Your better off finding some quality used rims. I would stay with stock before I went with motegi

Before my wife put the hammer down, I was going to buy some Motegi Trak Lite wheels. I haven't heard anything bad about them and Les Schwab (one of the largest tire/wheel dealers in the country) had only good things to say about the Trak Lites and nothing bad to say about Motegi in general.

I have never been to a Pep Boys, so I am not sure about which Motegi rims they carry, but I find it hard to believe they are worse than stock or can be that bad, in general. If there is a problem and you buy them from a reputable dealer, then you shouldn't have any trouble getting the problem resolved.

I ended up getting a really good deal on a set of used Centerline RPM wheels, so I am still happy, even though I like the style of the Trak Lites better.

Motegi are not that bad. I haven't had an issue of paint bubbling or anything, and alot of people have them up here. They can take a beating I know that. Because I've seen 5 sets of 17" up here with low profiles. And they've been running them for the past 2 years. And there's alot of bad roads up here. If they were so cheap as everyone says they are, they all would have dented a long time ago.

In fact, when I put my tires on the motegi's, they didn't require as much weight to balance as my stock rims did. Maybe I got lucky, I don't know. And you could alwayz go cheaper than motegi. American Racing has alot of rims that are way cheaper.

I think that one element that a few people overlook in regards to spending money on wheels or any other mods for that matter is that; we see a lot of the 4th and early 5th gens with the high-dollar wheels etc. For many of the guys with these cars, they no longer have a car payment and it's not as impactful to their bank account to purchase $2000 worth of tires and wheels. For some that are still paying $3-400 / month, it may not be as much of an option. Just something that may not be considered when others are bashing those who can't justify spending that much on Volks etc.
