Toyo Proxes TPT?

Does anyone have these tires? My KH11's are about gone in the rear and I probably only have a few more thousand left on the front set. I'm looking to stick to the 225/50/17 size and get something in the all-season variety this time - little less noisy, little more comfortable.

So, I've come across Falken Ziex 512s, and read some good reviews, save for the vibration some seem to be experiencing.

I've also found that Toyo makes a Proxes TPT all-season performance tire in the 225/50/17 size, and seems to get good reviews on the 1010tires.com site.

I'd like, however, to hear someone with a Maxima or the like who's had experience with them.

I just put on some Toyo Proxes 4 that I picked up from NTB for $125 per tire..

I've only had them a day, but so far they seem great. (but I had to get 235/45/17's)

check out what 1010tires review says...they are the best rated all season tire on the site.

I saw the Proxes 4, but am wary of going to the 235/45/17 size for safety and comfort concerns.

Now that I'm lowered, comfort in a tire is even more an issue - so much so that I'm contemplating 235/50/17, but in that size the options are even fewer and far between.

Sounds like NTB is the place to go though, to get Internet prices with the convenience of a local store.

As for being 20 and having an I35...let's just say I made some good choices earlier on.

Toyo Proxes TPT in Consumer Reports

I looked at the TPT a few weeks ago. The 225/50/17 was on national backorder at the time so I can't give you first hand experience. But Consumer Reports included them in their review last November. Here's how they rated them:

Dry Braking - Very Good
Wet Braking - Fair
Handling - Very Good
Hydroplaning - Excellent
Rolling Resistance - Very Good
Snow Traction - Good
Ice Braking - Poor
Ride - Good
Noise - Fair

I am looking at these as well. I have an '02 SE and live in southern New England, so I need something that is a good all-around tire. Is there anyone out there with first-hand experience with these? I know they are a quality tire, but they are only about $30 less than the Pilot Sport A/S's, so I'm torn. I'd also like to stick to the stock tire size - 225/50-17

I have experienced them and they are great tires. I enjoy the grip, noise is at a minimum and body roll is almost non-existant.
The ones i drive on are 225/60/16. Have them equipped on our Crown Vics. Work car. If i can buy some at a relatively cheap price i will get them for my max.

I just talked to a local Toyo dealer, and he said he had them on his personal car, and really liked them. He is on his 3rd year and says he might be thinking of a snow tire now, as he wants to go +1 next summer anyway, but really liked the tire. Pretty much sold me, but he called his warehouse and his direct Toyo contact....says the aren't ANY in the COUNTRY! Might be another month or so.

That's disappointing. I can't seem to find a good Toyo dealer around here anyhow. Most of them don't have anything in stock and seem unwilling to order them anyway. I'm seriously thinking about going to 235/45/17 and picking up a set of Kumho ASX or Pirelli Pzero Nero from TireRack despite the safety concerns.

And everyone I've asked seems to thing the 235/45/17 won't be a problem. Naturally they all want to make a sale, and are ok with it, when they can't find a direct replacement for our OEMs. I too am a little concerned, but thinking of either going +1, where you have a little better selection of tire, but less selection of the all seasons....these tend to be much more performance oriented.
