Picture of 235/45-17 on stock rims
I've read and I researched many of the hundreds of dicscussions on the topic of running 235/45-17 tires on the stock 17x7 rims.
Got it.
All I'd like to know is if anyone has a picture with this wheel/tire combo that will help me get a visual. (different angles would be a bonus)
Also, were there any offset requirements when mounting?
Many thanks -

My advice: Don't get them. I've had Michelin Pilot Sport A/S (235/45-17) on for at least 40K miles, and they've never quite felt "right." Always a shimmy of some kind going on, and right now I think my recent issues are related to wheel bearings, but I've bent at least 2 wheels on them in the past year...
I say stick with the 225/50/17...
As you can see... responses will be mixed here... there was another thread just like this last night... http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=348892
It was moved to the Rims & Tires forum and I have a feeling this one will be moved soon too...

ive got 235/45/zr17 Extreme Contact Continentals, factory issue on AUDI, BMW, VW and some others, and they are great, slightly harsher, due to shorter sidewall, but quicker turn-in response, better straight line traction, and stability. I assure you this setup is safe, with 30k on these, and many high speed runs under them, and I would never go back to stock.
Thx to all for your thoughts and convictions both ways.
I'm certain the 235/45-17 setup is safe, the tirerack guy even fessed up to it. However, I decided to go stock. Here's what drove my decission.
* While I'm sure the probability of something happening due to the 235/45-17 setup is less than getting hit by lighting twice in one day, I had to ask myself why even go there? I've got 4 great kids and a really hot wife, so why even make myself think about it when I get in the car.
* I'd rather not increase the fender gap by any margin, even if the difference is small enough to not be noticable to the eye.
* I do like to push the driving fairly hard, especially here in SW Florida where the roads are great. However, I do have to periodically shuffle clients around, so a bit more sidewall for a slightly more compliant ride would be appreaciated.
It really could have gone either way, but that's what tipped the scale for me, even as insignificant as it is.
I ended up ordering the Avon tech M500. Great price, very good reviews.
