Tire treadwear ratings
Hi I am currently shopping for tires for my new wheels, and was wondering about the treadwear ratings,
The higher the rating, the better the wear?
or
The lower the rating, the better the wear?
Ive been browsing on eBay, and the cheaper tires seem to have higher ratings than the more expensive tires??????
Thanks
Terry

The higher the better the wear. More expensive tires are often (not always) performance oriented tires, so they have performance as a higher priorty than treadwear. People who buy economy tires usually are concerned about how long it lasts, so they have better treadwear ratings (unless they are really cheap tires). It all depends on what priorities the tire has because there is no such thing as the "ultimate" tire.
