measure tire tread w/ a quater

i ve heard that there is a way to measure the tire tread with a quater some how, does anyone know how to do that

The only one I've heard is with a penny. Put Lincoln upside down. If tread comes up to his head, you have the legal limit of 2/32 inches.

Get 200 pennies together, and go and buy a tread depth gauge.
